I know dogs regulate their body temps by wagging their tongues.   But what methods do cats use to control their temp?   (Asides from sitting on top of the AC unit which mine love to do
)

Both cats and dogs sweat through their pawpads, but this doesn't really cool them much. Mostly they lose heat through their ears/bellies/other not-too-furry areas. Cats will also pant if they get very hot, just like dogs, but cats are usually smart enough not to exert themselves when it's hot ;).

So I guess a cat in hot, humid conditions will not dehydrate much differently than a cat in cooler climates (given the same level of activity) since they don't really sweat?

I think it's important to keep your cats hydrated with canned food because they naturally have low thirst drives. House cats are desert dwelling descendents, after all...they consume water with their meal, so a few decades of us offering water bowls will unlikely change their natural tendencies.

Cats in cooler weather will definitely be a lot more active than a cat that's in higher warm temperatures. My cats often sleep during the hot days but do a lot of running/chasing/wrestling at night lately, lol!

Right, but I was thinking in terms of hydration needed for cats on dry food.   In other words, would a cat in Florida (without AC) need to drink more water than a cat in say Minnesota.   I don`t remember seeing drops of sweat on my cat so its probably a moot point.   Just inquiring ADD minds wanted to know.
