Nice! I always wondered how the gels applied and if they lasted a long time. I've read about them, but have never tried them.

ETA: And I don't think I will! Do you really have to go through all that to remove the polish? Wow!

The gel polish manicure lasted as long as they said it would. After 2 1/2 weeks there still was no chipping.  But you could see at the cuticle line that the nails had grown, and by then you could definitely see that the polish didn't go all the way to the cuticle.

I didn't go and get it removed. I bought some wraps at the drug store and used regular nail polish remover.  Had I known what the wraps were when I bought them I would have dug into my pantry. All they are is a square of foil, with a piece of a polish remover pad glued to it. You scuff up the top of the gel nail with a coarse emery board. Then you moisten the pad part of the foil, apply it over the nail and wrap the foil around the finger and leave it on for 15 minutes. I could have saved myself $16.

Anyway, after 15 minutes the polish peeled right off.  But my finger nail was soft and mushy and peeling in layers.  I had to cut 3 nails down very short.

After removing the gel polish, you have to use a very fine emery board to smooth over the nail, and then an even finer one to buff up the nail.

It's been a week or so and my nails have returned to normal. I now have a manicure that I did myself using Revlon base coat, my favourite nail colour and a top coat.

While I like not having chipped nail polish, I didn't like not being able to change the colour, or the after effect of mushy nails.
