Someone tossed 8 kittens in my sisters yard last week and she called me for help. One of the kittens was missing a rear paw. It was a bloody stump. My sister took care of the healthy ones and is finding them homes.  I took the one missing a paw.

I named her Tripe (short for tripod) and this morning the vet removed the entire leg.

I will be picking her up after work Tuesday and I would love to hear from anyone that has done post op care of a kitten/cat that had a leg amputation. I know she will be fine once she gets used to it I just am wondering what's the 1st week or two going to be like.

Thank you in advance for any info and tips.

That's so nice of you to take tripe! I had a cat a loooong time ago with a peg leg. Her nickname was Peggy. If you don't get a lot of responses here, you could join this group:

It is for people who have cats with vaccination sarcoma, but many of these cats end up as amputees so they will be able to help you.

Just bumping this thread up since you haven't really gotten any responses.  I, personally, don't have any experience in this area, but I know we have members who have.

I feel certain Tripe will do fine, especially being so young.  She won't know what it's like to have FOUR legs
.  The Vet's office should give you aftercare instructions, and I would imagine Tripe and you will take it from there.  Are you going to keep her?  I guess she's already back home by now.  How's she doing?
