Hey guys!

So Dolce is 9 weeks old. I don't think he was well fed before I adopted him 5 days ago. He used to be fed all solid food. I found that he had problems chewing the food so I thought I feed him wet food. And I noticed he eats better with wet food. However, his old 'caretaker' told me that Dolce is a very playful kitten. In the past 5 days, I noticed he plays for minutes but sleeps for long long long hours. He sleeps almost all the time. I picked his food with care. I picked things that are suitable for his age and that has lots if nutrients. And I have lots of toys for him to play with, which he uses only for like 20 minutes a day or less. Should I worry about his laziness?

Honestly, it is not unusual for cats to sleep up to 20 hours a day and most cats sleep at least 15 hours a day.  Additionally, cats are often nocturnal, so a signifigant portion of time spent awake might be time when you are in bed. So I guess I think we need more information about what you mean by 'sleeps most of the time'. Also what kind of toys does he have? Are they interactive toys? Do you play with him? I do think it's strange if he really only plays 20 minutes a day total, but if what you really mean is he only plays with an inatimate toy for 20 minutes a day, I think that's actually quite a lot- my cats play with their crinkly balls and other non interactive toys maybe 5 minutes a day each maximum, but if I pull out da bird they will chase that thing for hours if I let them.

tulosai tulosai you are right. He's awake when I'm in bed. And it worries a lot because he's little and i'm afraid he gets stuck somewhere. The rest of the day he spends sleeping. He chases a ball a little. And then just walks around the house. I was thinking as a little kitten he's supposed to be playful

Unfortunately (or I guess in a way fortunately?) he sounds pretty normal to me. Most kittens can get pretty playful, but all have their own personalities and chances are he is still also getting used to your house
As long as he is eating well and using the litterbox and will play when the spirit moves him, he sounds normal and healthy to me.  It is possible too that as he starts to clue into the fact that you sleep at night he will adjust his schedule somewhat

Don't worry too much about his getting stuck- kittens and cats are actually generally extremely resourceful and smart about where they can fit or not- they use their whiskers as an indication and are rarely wrong.

If you want him to play more with you I would recommend some interactive toys- da bird and the cat charmer are both big hits at my house

Congrats on your new addition and thanks for caring about this kitty.
