I do TNR work on my road and got a report of 2 kittens. I caught the male first (around 12 weeks old) and he turned out to be super friendly so they must have been dumped. He's in foster now. I caught the female about the week later. She is also friendly, but very nervous. After 2 days of hiding in the bathroom, she is now walking around meowing non stop. She keeps looking around and up at the ceiling and trying to find a way to climb up everything. She is also in the window constantly meowing. She can't seem to relax now. I doubt very much that she is in heat at that age, plus she lacks the other signs. It seems to me like she is nervous being indoors. I took in an adult stray once that would sit in a window and cry for a week then he stopped. Do you all think this is what it is? She is in the bathroom with 2 other fosters I have that are the same age. They run around like crazy playing and she wants nothing to do with them or playing. She is either hiding or walking around meowing and looking up...never wants to play, cuddle in a bed, or anything a kitten would normally do. She is scheduled to get spayed July 13th.

Thank you for rescuing these sweet kittens.  She may need her own space as she may be too overwhelmed with other cats as well as being inside.  If you have another place to keep her, that would be best.  She may need some 1:1 time to socialize.  Then after a bit you can see if she will come around.  If you cannot move her elsewhere, try spending time so she can see you playing and interacting with the other kittens.  They often learn by watching.

I have used a product called Feline Composure.  I used it last year when I brought an adult feral into my house.  He cried and yowled for days.  The composure really helped.  It comes in liquid and treat formula.  I prefer the liquid as it's easy to mix into wet food and they like the taste.  The treats are larger and some cats don't like the taste.  It also takes 2-3 to calm the cat.  Do an internet search on Liquid Composure Max or Feline Composure treats.

So funny! I found that right before you posted this. I will try it. I don't have anywhere else to move her to unfortunately. I go in the bathroom a lot to play with them and sometimes have 2 baby gates stacked on top of each other and leave the door open...but they can now climb it and all 3 of them, including her, come out. She just wants to run all the time. It's sad...she was definitely someone's pet b/c she isn't feral but I think she's been out long enough to have a hard time readjusting to indoors. It's only been 2 full days so I need to just be patient!
