What about your boyfriend, will she play with him? Sometimes it's just a matter of finding a toy they like. Some cats like wand toys (some prefer furry ones, feathery ones, flicky paper ones), some like laser pointers, some like paper or foil balls, some like balls with bells in them. My cats like chasing dried black licorice.
And these things: http://www.thecatsite.com/products/max-co-super-kitty-sprokets/reviews/4381

Kismet will chase these and bat them around like crazy.

I went to the store to get the food ... And they don't carry it ... nowhere does, and you cant order it online. So I got some grreat choice and she just ate the juice ...
Which food do they not carry? You mean the GC Fancy Feast generic? Huh, I would think any Petsmart would have it. Well, try the Walmart generic I guess. Sometimes it can be a real process to switch a cat to canned food. But I do think it's worth it :).

Great news!

It really depends - if she's taken to the change well, and especially if you can get her moving and playing more (I get my wand toys and have gotten some laser pointers from the dollar store, if price is an issue), the weight will come off faster. It's not quite as easy as with people and setting a deadline to lose X lbs.

Don't stress too much about seeing the results. They'll probably come slowly enough that you won't see a difference since you're with her everyday. Get some before pictures taken, take her current weight, and continue to monitor her food, and take new pictures in a month or two with a new weight. If you have a good scale, you can try weighing her every week at the same time of day (eg, before her morning meal). Since cats are smaller, something like a digital scale that goes to at least one decimal place will help you see the smaller improvements on a week-to-week basis. You might be surprised!

Sometimes it's easier to see progress by looking down at them instead of from the sides. Peanut always looks overweight from the side. He has some long hair at the back of his belly that makes his belly look big no matter what. :)

If I look down at him I can tell how chubby he is by how defined his sides are near his back legs. I know there is a chart on that somewhere. My vets office had one on the wall.

Yes! The topline is a good gauge. Mo has a huge primordial pouch hanging below him, but he's near skin and bones. His topline shows his waist is very thin, and if you were to feel it, there's very little around his spine. There are lots of charts like it (and in vets offices, usually by the scale), but here's an example:

Well Emma is being a picky brat. she has dry food access , which she usually doesn't touch its there just because. Well she has decided she only likes petsmarts brand. Tried 9 lives again ... No go. Oh well Petsmart is very close.

I wish I could afford better ... and that she would eat more variety LOL.

She usually begs for wet rather than eating dry, Thats how we can tell she is not liking this ... she sniffed it then went to the dry.

I bought a box of 24 cans of fancy feast gourmet or delights I forgot the name for less than $16 in stop and shop I think. They were $0.55 each so I thought it was cheap. They're $0.79 in my grocery store. I have a budget too but they cannot be without the fancy feast. I had my digital scale in the bathroom and that's how I knew Foley was 15 pounds :lol3: scale is not working anymore since I had it in front of the mirror and he loves to look at himself.

That is awesome ..

I am glad she is liking the wet food so far ..

i understand completely about picky cats .. I have been trying so hard to get my cats on 100% wet .. Tried every brand know to man ..

Yay , we found only one they will eat .. Fancy Feast it is .  They love it and each eat 2 full cans per day .  No dry food ..

I know it is frustrating but just keep trying ..

She is eating but the only 5.5 ounce she will eat is the petsmart brand ... Picky kitty. I will look at finances again if she decides to go off this and see if we can do fancy feast. at 1.60 a days its 4x as expensive as this lol. Can't we meet somewhere in the middle?

Hey , finding a wet food she will eat is half the battle .. Just stay with that current food as long as she will eat it ..

Which one did you get at  Petsmart , Authority or Great Choice ? My cats would not eat either one .. Brats  !!

Yes , Fancy Feast can be expensive in store . I buy mine on Amazon .com  . I get a great deal on Subscribe & Save ..

I know you don't shop online but if you ever decide to someday check it out.

I love shopping online ... I just am in a situation where I can not have money in my account. Its complicated.

Its great choice. I bought 9 lives and she turned. Up her nose I had hoped if she ate one brand she would try others.

I understand .  I know you from the Puppy & Dog Forum ..

Well you have to start somewhere  . If she is eating the Great Choice that is good .. When you find something that works stick with it ..

My cats will only eat Fancy Feast so I am staying with it .. I can't waste any more money experimenting ..

I figured :) that's the only place I have mentioned not shopping online.

Luckily these foods are cheap ... even if she eats none of them I am out $3 lol. I am going to pick up more cans of her favorite tomorrow.

I know what you mean about experimenting with food being pricey. And its not fun. I hate wasting food.
