Hi everyone. I have had cats all my life, and have used regular litter. I have been tempted to use clumping litter because it is easier and cheaper in the long run, but I'm afraid that when my cats lick their paws after they go to the bathroom, they will injest some of the litter, and the properties that make it clump will cause intestinal problems. Could my cats get sick from it?

I had this same concern. you could try swheat scoops, but it is pricey though. I am trying feline pine right now. I see some pellets here and there but it doesnt stick to paws.

I haven't used clay litter in a long time, ever since I read about the problems with the clay dust. I have wondered about the clumping litter as well. I use "yesterdays news". It is made from recycled paper and comes in pellet form like the feline pine.

Thank you very much, Gus's mom, for the link. After reading this article, I will NEVER even think of using this stuff. I would never be able to handle the fact that it was my fault if one of my babies got sick and died. The old-fashioned kind of litter is good enough for me.
