I have a10 year old female cat & about a month ago we found out she is diabetic. One of the bad things was that she would just empty her entire bladder. The vet explained why that was happening & once we started her on insulin her peeing slowed down. We are still trying to find the proper dose for her but in the meantime she is back to emptying her bladder everywhere excepts where she sleeps. I have gone thru $200 worth of Feliway and put plastic on the couches and chairs and changed the rugs where her litter boxes r because outside of her litter box is where she is doing the most peeing. Her litter box is also in tip top shape. My question is: once we get her regulated on insulin is she going to stop peeing everywhere? Will there ever be an end in sight?:

The excessive urination should ease up when the diabetes is controlled. What diet changes have been made. As with humans dietary changes are needed along with insulin. The same high protein very low carb diet also works for kitties.

I think she may have associated her litterbox with painful peeing, so she's choosing to go elsewhere. Maybe buy a new one for her?
I know a lot of diabetic cats, and I can't recall any of them peeing outside the box like that. Once she gets her insulin levels sorted (which can take time) she should settle down too.

This, and make sure sure to use an enzyme-based cleaner specific for pet stains on the areas she's using for elimination.  She can smell through the plastic.

Thank you for the replies. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. Today I took her to the vet for follow up blood work & we are going up one on her insulin plus I got antibiotics cuz we all agree she has a bladder infection. Finally I bought wet food low in carbs

Wait, are you testing her blood glucose at home?  This most recent vet visit, were the numbers calculated while on higher carb food?  Or was it after a fast?  This can affect how much insulin you give her.

I had a whole discussion with the vet on her food, her peeing outside the litter box & this is what we decided would be best. She is going in back in a few days for blood work again
