I'm reading 'White Death' by Clive Cussler - Book 4 of the Kurt Austin series and after that I have 'Golden Buddha' by Clive Cussler - Book One of the Oregan Files Series. After I've finished them I'll have to wait for Clive to write some more because I'll have read the lot (apart from his non-fiction books).

I'm in total agreement there, though I like the way he brought the Petra Connor character from "Billy Straight" (and her new partner) into "A Cold Heart".

I've read them all, from the first one: Wish You Were Here. I have a reserve on the new one, at the library. Rita Mae Brown also has a great historical novel, Dolley. It is about Dolley Madison.

I just finished reading Sex and the Single Vampire by Kate McAlister. The title caught my eye and I just HAD to check it out! It is a paranormal romantic comedy, featuring a Summoner (person who summons ghosts) and a Moravian Dark One (a kind of vampire).

The book features ghosts, demons and vampires and has some really juicy, bodice-ripping love scenes. In addition, it has some hilarious characters and scenes. There is even a ghost CAT, that piddles on the carpet!

Right now I am reading Island of Bones. I am almost finished and while it is pretty good, it is weird.

I got some birthday money and I bought a book "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt.

Today, I read Give Me a Break!, by John Stossel. For years, I've loved his specials and segments on 20/20. He proves that junk science, political correctness, frivolous lawsuits and government OVERregulation do much more harm than good.

Right now I'm reading "Salve Roma!" by Akif Pirincci. It's the fifth book in his "Felidae" mystery series (Felidae, Francis, Cave Canem and The Duel were the first four), and just came out a few weeks ago. Amazon.com has the first one in English:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...books&n=507846
They're "cat detective" novels, but much darker and deeper than the "Mrs. Murphy" or "The Cat Who...." series, and the victims (and sometimes the perpetrators) are felines. "Felidae" was also filmed, but Amazon doesn't seem to have the DVD. I've seen the English version of the film, and it's pretty good. I haven't read the English translation of Felidae - this guy writes such a beautiful German that I'm afraid I might be disappointed in the standard of the translation. I can highly recommend the story, though.

I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix ( having reread The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Goblet of Fire recently)

In the last month or so I also read Straight Talking by Jane Green and Seven Dials by Anne Perry--she's one of my favorite authors.

Last week, I indulged in one of my periodic orgies of trashy reading: Jackie Collins' Hollywood Divorces. Just gotta have some occasional sleaze!

Cindy, I read that book not too long ago - it is not as good as her usual books. I like Collins' books for the occassional summertime sleazefest
And I love trying to figure out who she could be writing about!

LOL, by Anne Perry-
I'm not an author, Bren.1 but my maiden name is Perry

So I am not neccessarily a fan of her work, (I haven't read her books), but I'm a big fan of her name

"Lola" is obviously Jennifer Lopez and her tennis-player husband is Chris Whatisname (the dancer).

I kept thinking "Nicole Kidman". The publicly cool, self-possession while being married to a $#!+ of a husband definitely fits Kidman.

Naturally, the ill-behaved boxer was Mike Tyson.

I am in the middle of Prey by Michael Crichton. It is suspenseful and fascinating, but his books always are. If you are into computer intelligence, I recommend it.

I thought RULES OF ATTRACTION by Bret Easton Ellis was pretty good. This book is a perfect read for anyone who had a less-than-pleasurable college experience. I would recommend it if you are young enough to vividly remember how cruddy your experience was. If you were the person who couldnt see the forest from the trees in college, then you will connect with this book well. But I will warn you, its pretty dark.

Good books that tug on your heartstrings in a different, more bittersweet way are BEE SEASON, by Myla Goldberg. And also BOOK OF RUTH, by Jane Hamilton.

I am in the middle...well actually towards the end of Return of the King. I wanted to read it before the movie comes out May 25th. I started with the Hobbit and worked my way through the trilogy. It's awesome, I love anything Tolkien!

That's funny, if you like mysteries, you'd probably like her books.
She's probably so good because she has first hand experience with murder. If you saw the film Heavenly Creatures, it is her story, she was one of the girls.
