I don't know if I should have put this in The Cat Lounge or if it's
already been done but here goes.

I love reading and am always interested in finding new books to read. So I thought this would be fun to hear what everyone else
is reading and how they like it so far. Or really good books
you have already read and would recommend to others to
check out.

Right now I'm reading The Dark Zone by Stephen King, so far I'm only
at page 127, it's keeping me interested but I haven't
read enough to really give a good review or descriptoion
on it yet lol

So what is everyone else reading right now?

There is a similar thread in the lounge, but I always like to talk about books.

I am currently reading 'Why Not Me' by Al Franken. I just finished a book-on-cd called 'Murder One' (can't remember the author) that wasn't as good as I had hoped. I also just finished 'Stupid White Men' by Michael Moore. I was kind of in a liberal/political/social mood when I was at the library.

I'm now going to start 'Kiln People' by David Brin, that is the TCS book club selection for November.

Just bought Madam Secretary, a memoir by Madeleine Albright. I haven't started it yet, but we are going to her book signing on the 18th. We'll get to meet her then.

I need to put this on my list at the library - I just read Living History by Hillary Rodham Clinton, and wanted to read Madeleine Albright's book also.

There is also a book out by Mohammed Odeh al-Rehaief (the Iraqi man who helped rescue Jessica Lynch) called Because Each Life is Precious. I want to read that one also, but my libaray isn't carrying it yet. I may have to buy it.

Waiting on tenterhooks for the new Mercedes Lackey book to GET HERE ALREADY, I ordered it from Amazon last week. It's "Exile's Valor", continuing Alberich's tale from "Exile's Honor". I looove her Heralds of Valdemar series!

I just started a new book-on-cd (I have started having a book-on-cd going for the drive to and from work and walking with the dogs, and a paper book going at the same time). It's Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams, the 5th book in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. I didn't realize he had written a fifth book in the set!!

I am reading "The Best Revenge" By Stephen White. Its not bad at all. I tried to read Kiln People, but I could not get into it at all

Next I plan to read either The Poisonwood Bible or Stephen King's Insomnia - its been ages since I read that one and I want to read it again.

C. S. Lewis was a real fan of cats.

I wish I had more time to read. I began reading, "A People's History of the United States," and got as far as the colonial revolutionary period, but I had to return the book because it was overdue.

Lately, I've been reading cat litter bags and going on line whenever possible until I fall asleep.

I just got through reading "Daddy's Little Girl" by Mary Higgins Clark. I really liked it. I also love to read C.S. Lewis.

Mercedes Lackey "Exile's Valor"
Amy Shojai "Complete Care for Your Aging Cat"
Anne Rice "Blood and Gold"

All read in the past week or so.

I'm a huge Misty Lackey fan, and was thrilled with the newest Heralds of Valdemar book. This one takes place right before the "Arrows" trilogy.

"Blood and Gold" is the "life" story of the Vampire Marius. Her best since "Queen of the Damned", IMO.

And I figured, with 6 kitties aged 10 and over, reading a book about aging cats would be a good idea. Awesome book, most highly recommended.

I am currently plowing through "Hell Gate" by Douglas Nash. This a military history book about the Russian Front during WWII.

My nephew is planning on joining the Marines, so I will be sending him the "Forgotten Soldier" for his 16th birthday. Maybe he will reconsider.

I have read a lot of C.S. Lewis, the Narina Series, the Screw Tape letters. I have also read Tolkien, but I am a fervent campainger for "Rights for Orcs". I have thought about protesting the movies. I had made some tusks, I took a mold of my bottom teeth and sculpted a wax mold of tusks. Then I cast them in dental plastic. They fit very nicely over my bottom teeth. It is so horrible how these poor creatures (Orcs, Goblins, Kobals, ect) are discrimnated against.
