I'm considering taking on some foster kittens from the shelter. My only concern is on keeping my house cats safe, from any diseases the kittens may have.
I'm planning on keeping the kittens locked up in the bathroom for the first 2 weeks until they get a clear bill of health from the vet. The bathroom is the easiest place to disinfect.
Any other thoughts?
I have 6 cats (4 indoor, 2 outdoor).
I'm also concerned that my cat with FLUTD will not handle having new kittens around very well. He does tend to spray, but I don't know if it is stress related or not. Sometimes he goes weeks without issue, other times just days. The strange thing is my one outdoor cat who likes to come inside does not seem to bother him, although they are not friends. They mostly ignore each other. No hissing or fighting, they just do their own thing.
