I have two sibling kittens about 5 mths old. I tried. To supplement and treat them with a wedge of canned food outside of their dry food. That didn't go well. One ate quicker than the other by a large margin and I had to corral the faster one. Too much work to do every day. So I tried making little wedge slices of the canned food and then freezing them. It worked great. They both share one frozen wedge and spend 15 minutes licking and nibbling at it until done. It solves the corral problem, they really enjoy it, it's a great cool summer treat, and it keeps them occupied and stimulated as they nuzzle, and work the wedge.

It seems to be a great idea to share to others. Let me know if there is a problem with this though.

Wet food is much better for cats than dry, so I would try to feed as much wet as you can. If this method works for all of you, I don't see an issue with it. I am not sure how well it will work in the winter time though.

My cats eat two canned meals a day.  In-between they get one cube each of frozen wet food and about 1 tablespoon of kibble.  At first one cat was eating both cubes but luckily the other one wised up and now they go to their eating stations at the same time and both get one.  They usually wait about an hour or two for some defrosting.  Once one of them goes back and starts licking, the other will follow.

I'm doing this to prep them for when I travel.  The sitter will visit only once a day so they will get one fresh canned feeding.  When the sitter leaves, she'll leave out 3 cubes per cat.  Plus, I'll set up the autofeeder to dispense snack size servings of kibble 3 times at night/early morning.
