While cats may be eating and using the litter box reliably on their own quite early on, the remaining weeks to the recommended age to rehome them (10-12 weeks) isn't so much for physically developmental milestones, but for socializing. Cats who are removed from their mom and littermates too soon tend to have difficulty learning how to socialize, especially with other cats or animals in the future because they didn't have as much time to "practice" or learn their boundaries (when play gets too rough, what is and isn't appropriate play). Especially if they end up in a single-cat home, try as we may, these are skills humans can't teach.

Good you have decided to keep them a little longer.     :)

When I was young (your age??) there was a hot debate if they should be 6 or 8 weeks to be adopted.   Nowadays we see 8 weeks as an absolute minimum, 10 is OK if you cant otherwise, 12 is very good and recommendable.   They learn a lot from littermates and mom!   At this age you can also make sure they are vaccinated, spayed if you wish it so, etc...

Why this 6 - at most 8 weeks?   I believe they thought kittens wont bind to humans if taken as older.   While it is in partly thrue about semi-ferale farm cats - they are much easier to socialize at 6 weeks than 8+,   the priniciple as such is not true.

Any properly socialized cat will bind to her human, if this human is kind, friendly and proves herself worthly of friendship.  Even a 12+ years senior will bind.

Why, even an adult semiferale will bind with time, more or less, but it will take more time, love and effort...   This ex-semiferale will remain shy to strangers and visitors, but this is another question.   But he will bind to Mom or Dad, he will.

So the old rule of thumb of my time as yongster is falseified.

Also, please consider to have the mom spayed.    You tell money arent important to you. So thus, you arent a  breeder?

And demand / recommend warmthly they adopters to spay / neuter them too these kittens they got from you.

There are cheap vet clinics if you seek a little.   If money is an issue you dont need to go a fashionable vet.

Good luck!
