Hello! I am pretty sure my fur-baby is pregnant. She is 2 years old, hasn't been fixed ( i wanted her to have a litter first)and kept inside (strictly) along with a male who is also not fixed. A little over a month or so ago i noticed them messing around.. She has been in heat off and on for 6 months, but they didnt really start trying until a couple months ago.. My male would try but i didnt think they actually did anything bc it didnt look like he was able to get it in, sorry for the TMI lol. Anyways, i noticed about 3 weeks ago that her stomach was unusually hard. She was always a smaller sized cat, but now her stomach sticks out and is really hard! She started meowing alot about 2 weeks ago which she never did before, and she was act like she was nursing on this fluffy blanket i had..A couple days ago she started looking around every corner in my house and she even went under my couch scratching around, i thought she got under there and pooped but when i scooted my couch out she was just sitting there so i assume she is nesting.. She even opened up a cabinet door by herself and sat inside a couple minutes. Here are a few pictures, tell me what you think and if possible how far along she may be.

These were taken on june 12th.

This was yesterday

'today as i was touching her belly, i felt a lump like a kittens head.. When i touched it she got mad and smacked me and hissed.

The exact day and hour is never easy to tell beforehand.  When you feel the kittens move, it usually about two weeks left.

she has began to seek after nesting place.  So prepare for her at least two nests, so she has something to choose among.   It is not sure she will take the best nest at once, she will pehaps do it after delivery.   But it will calm her if she has nests prepared.  In calm, quiet , undisturbed places...

I will send some links tomorrow, when I sit at another computer.

You can spay the tom now, as soon you can, to avoir any risk for complications.

If they are best friends, and they want to be toghether in the motherhood, let him.   But as said, safest to spay him before.   She can get pregnant shortly after delivery... Cants dont get protected by giving nursing.

Good luck!

Here are some links.  I did stole them succesfully from Red Top Rescue:

We have a good collection of articles in the Cat Health section which you can access by scrolling up to the brown bar, clicking on Articles, and then choosing the Cat Health section and scrolling through the choices.  To make this super easy for you, I am copying the links regarding birth, delivery and newborns for you here.  After reading this information, let us know if you have any more questions.  And good luck with your approaching new arrivals.

I first noticed my cat was pregnant on June 12th. Her stomach was really hard & her nipples were pink.

And as of today July 17th. She has been going to her nesting box i set up for her alot more now. She is just laying around sleeping all day and is very clingy. She's eating normal. I have noticed clear liquid coming from her nipples & yesterday one of them went inverted, when that happened she had milk all over her chest. But it popped back out now. Last night when she was in her box i turned her over on her back to pet her stomach and noticed the t-shirt that was under her was wet. I thought maybe it was her water leaking. But it could've also been her nipples leaking. Anyways, how far along would you put her at if i first noticed on June 12th she had to be atleast 4-5 weeks right? I can now feel and see the kittens moving.

You can see where the shirt is wet here.

It must be quite close now!  Has she dropped?   Ie less bread on the sides, but the tummy instead seems to be hanging down...  Its happens when kittens come down into postions   The kittens move less the last day.

As luck is, cats manage a little too long pregnancy better than humans, so its essetnially just to wait and see!

Your girl seems to be somewhat alike a russian blue in body shape.  The scandinavian / european type sooner than the american.  What is her eye color?

Good luck!  @cindarenea

She has green eyes :)

Today i have noticed that she doesn't look as wide.. She has been in her nesting box literally ALL day for the past two days.. She keeps wanting me to rub her stomach too...

This was taken a few minutes ago, the first time she got out of her box today besides to eat lol.

As you can see in this picture, ,she is still leaking something. Im not sure if its from her breast (but i seriously think its not) or "down there".

Rub on, rub on! Its not only a pleasure for both her and you, it helps also stimulate the hormones,

If green eyes,,  we can have as a working hypothesis she IS a russian blue for real, not just a look alike or a mix.

Prob of pet qualtiy,  but anyway.    :)

We have babies! She had 5. After a long, exhausting 2 hours. I called the vet bc she still hadnt had them at 10:00 this morning when her water broke at 12:40 last night and they told me to bring her in ASAP for a c section or shed die.. On the way there she started pushing and gave birth to her first kitten in my lap. When we got to the vet she had another one, they sent her home and she had three more in the car.

...with the cats...
congratulations!!! very pretty momma, and lovely babies!

make sure momma cat has water and food (kitten food is best, wet and possibly some dry) close by, and a litter box not too far away. the kitten food will help momma cat while she's nursing and caring for her babies.

Everything is all set. She's already ate some kitten food and drank a bowl of milk. She's back to nursing :)

Would it be okay to change the towel they're laying on? It's pretty dirty... The day she had them i changed her from the box the vet sent her home in, to her nesting box and it made her pretty mad..

Yes I change the towel/blanket every 2-3 days with my momma cats.

I'm glad everything went ok. Please do have the tomcat fixed asap and keep him seperated from the mom as Tom's can remain fertile for 2 weeks after neutering. He might hurt or kill the kittens to mate with the mom again as well.

She can go into heat again almost immediately as @Stefanz said. So separation is a good idea imo.

Also, for future reference allowing a cat to have kittens "just because" is a pretty poor reason. The only cats who should be allowed to breed are pedigreed cats owned by licensed breeders.

There are far too many homeless cats in this world to have kittens just because. Cats are not like humans, in that they need to bear children in order to lead full lives. In fact cats are much healthier if they are spayed early. The main issue for females is the development of certain cancers. For boys the main reason for early neutering is to save your house from "Entire Tom Terrors",
i.e. spraying, inappropriate elimination, and aggressive behavior.

I realize the kittens are here so there's no taking it back, but my hope is someone else will see this post and not make the same mistake.
