Momma cat's kittens were born June 16, 2014. They are already starting to move around a little and starting to open their eyes.
We are fostering mom and kittens. Momma is extremely thin, about 4.8 pounds as of yesterday (6//23/14). She is a smallish cat anyway, but I fear to touch her as she seems so delicate and thin.
Yesterday (6/23/14), momma cat had 5 extreme episodes of diarrhea spread throughout the day. We contacted the foster coordinator, who contacted three vets and came up with a game plan for taking on the diarrhea problem. She was on Science Diet wet kitten food, which I know is not high quality but the shelter told us to feed her that. After the huge quantities of diarrhea, we switched her to Wellness grain-free in hopes it might help. She's had Wellness for one day now. We got Kaolin from the shelter, and were told to give her 2cc 4X a day for up to two days to help with the diarrhea. So far she has had two doses, one around 4:00 (6/24/14), and another around 9:00 (6/24/14). At around 5:00PM I discovered 2 small solid poops in the litter box that must have happened between 4:00PM and 5:00PM. Later on (perhaps around 7:00) I discovered a squishy poop that wasn't entirely solid, but it wasn't diarrhea. However, about 20 minutes ago (around 9:20ish) she had another large episode of diarrhea. She was fed half a can of Wellness this morning (around 7:00), and was given the other half at 4:00 with her dose of Kaolin. This whole time she has been free-fed dry Science Diet kitten (I normally disapprove of that brand, but we have to play by the foster program's rules). I should also mention that this morning there was only a slightly squishy poop in the box.
