Our vet had originally prescribed Albon to treat a Coccidia infection in a litter of four feral kittens I'm caring for.  Problem is, they won't touch any food containing the medication.  So now I'm either stuck having to administer the medication by oral syringe- the kittens are still somewhat skittish and freak out if picked up- or the vet can order Ponazuril.  The vet, and a tech, tried her darndest to talk me out of resorting to the Ponazuril, citing a lack of safety data concerning use in kittens (something was mentioned about potential neurological damage).

The Ponazuril would be so much easier to administer, but I don't want to give the kittens a potentially harmful drug.  Any input is welcome!

My 7 lb puppy was given it at the shelter (2 doses I believe) and she recovered just fine. She was sick, but I believe that was from being spayed at the same time as being sick from coccidia.

Not sure of the safety in cats though.
