Hello all,

I am a first time cat owner to my tuxedo cat Odie, he is about 2 yrs old. He has been healthy til this point and I am concerned. Lately, he has been sleeping much more than usual, he has a discharge coming from his eyes not colored just white and his third eyelid is showing slightly more than usual. He has been lethargic and just not himself. My husband is thinking it may be allergies but should I be more concerned and take him to the vet?

Thanks for any feedback.

Yes, you need to take him to the vet.  He may have allergies, but he may also have an infection somewhere that is manifesting itself in the symptoms you described.

BTW, please excuse my bad manners, but welcome to the forum.

Thank you

Yes, cats and dogs are very different. Cats have a unique (and often complicated) physiology.
I agree that he should be seen by a vet. You don't want it manifesting into something worse.

It doesn't sound like an allergy and whenever a cat becomes lethargic you are almost always looking at something more systemic, the cat is feeling badly.  It could be an URI, but only a vet can tell you. Prompt treatment should provide help.
