Aww thank you Quiet :) she's being cute today. Keeps sitting in my laundry basket.

Frankie actually seems a little better today. Asked my mum and she seemed to agree. Want do you guys think? The last one has poor lighting so looks worse but it's not as dark in the daylight

If you shave, wear long sleeve shirt and pants with gloves. My vet warned me against shaving as she had a woman who shave her long haired cat and ended up getting ringworm all over her body from the hair of her cat getting on her fur.

My first thought was acne. But it flakes likes ringworm does. The second vet I saw did say that bodily fluids could glow too so the black light would not be 100% accurate. I had some skin scrapes done on him. It could be a combination of things. Fungal is prob secondary.

I've today ordered some high protein content food. Lily's Kitchen it's called. For kittens. It's 65% meat content and suitable for allergies and sensitive stomachs. It costs a fortune but I am thinking his immune system will better fight off whatever he has with this supplemented in his weekly food. Too expensive for every day! Haha. I spent about an hour researching the best meat content food and this was by far the best. Almo Nature came a close second.

I am against shaving him if can avoid it. The vet didn't mention it when I saw her last week. She didn't seem overly worried even of it was ringworm. Didn't mention acne to me. Will get the fella to ask again Wednesday.

He loves the lilys kitchen variety! Licks it all up. Has expensive taste haha. It's also organic so can't be bad for him

Thank you so so much. It's reassuring to hear :) he has a check up tomorrow and a re-weigh with the little one for the next 7 days on the itraconazole. I have enjoyed my 7 day break I haven't missed the syringing syrup by mouth at 6 am haha. I think the vet will be happy to see he's improving.

Still cleaning daily in +26 degree heat too.

Had a little panic this morning as sae what looked like bile on the floor and he'd vomited. But turns out was the grass he's been eating outside my front door. Phhewwww panic over! :)

My kitten is also 8 months and has something similar. The vet thought it was a rodent ulcer and gave her a shot of steroids which didnt help. Scabbing appeared on her nose. Pictures included from beginning middle and today.

Wow that does look rather similar to what he has. What did you do?

The results haven't come back yet so to me looks more like ringworm as I know they take couple weeks or more to culture. However we are now on phase 2 of the itraconazole for both kittens. I am still cleaning and regularly bleach the kitchen and vynil flooring plus all the wooden surfaces like window ledges and bannisters.

The vet found a few tiny flecks on the younger kitten. Near her rear where she used to have a patch in May (poor thing) and two minuscule dots on her nose. Most likely spores. Nothing else was found. No lesions. I am creaming the flecked areas anyway with daktarin just to be safe. The eldest kitten didn't glow at all this time. His face is responding well to treatment. I've attached photos. I am not sure if anything I am doing is helping. I like to think it is!! I am hopeful that they will get over this and I will in a few months be rid!! Here's hoping :)

This is Frankie now. The treatment seemed to help more during the 7 day gap. The vet seemed pleased anyway. Good job! Hard work syringe feeding this syrup by mouth at 6am to lively bouncy kittens haha.

You may want to go to the doctor and get the human members treated too as this can easily pass to humans also.

Thanks Stephanie :) I hope so. It's unchanged for now. Seems more yellow in colour. Assuming that's because it's healing?

Thanks Frida. We have had it in the house since 'May but so far only kitties have it. None of us (touching wood). But we have a lot of cream stocked up to use in case see any. I'm not wanting to take meds at the moment haha

Results are in. Definitely ringworm. The culture confirmed it. So... Shall keep up with all cleaning and treatment. I can't use the topical cream on the kitties as they seem to get a red irritation so will leave that for now.

One question I have. Does anyone know if air purifiers work to clean the environment a bit? I'm reading online that they can rid of mold spores but that's not exactly the same. Wondering if anyone's had any experience with them? I'm trying to avoid anything chemical.

I can only do what I'm doing with cleaning. Hopefully if keep this up it will eventually go. Will take time but I have plenty of that :) staying positive. It's not drastic just extremely annoying.

Hepa filters are good. After our cat had three negative cultures each done 21 days apart, we stopped with all the bleach cleaning. I made sure to wash all the walls and the floors one last time. You have done an awesome job!! You are almost there. We also threw away the fomites which is a fancy word for toys, pillows, blankets. We even trashed the kitty condo all scratching posts too. Didn't want to take the chance for reinfection and the spores would be on those things as well.

Oooh excellent thank you. Was that with the help of the HEPA filter? I'm at a loss what else to try. I emailed a few sellers but they didn't seem to think it would help with ringworm spores? Have you got a good one to recommend? I know most are in the States but to get rid if this I'm willing to have it shipped over here. I also ready up on Onix air conditioners that do prove effective on fungi spores and work by sucking air and dust in a chamber and incinerating the spores etc very 15 minutes. They cost a fair bit though.

As an alternative to topical cream I thought more natural remedies? I've been reading up on apple cider vinegar and coconut oil which apparently work effectively to kill fungus including ringworm on skin. Apple cider can also be sprayed in a mist on toys beds etc. what do you think? He reacts to the OTC creams. But he keeps getting new sores in his face. Near the old ones. It's so odd as they don't look like ringworm more like dermatitis.

Should I keep cleaning for now? I am going to bin the toys but want to keep the giant cat tree. Been hoovering it daily and spraying with bleach + water mix on the sisal etc.

Apologies for all the questions. My minds ticking over. I felt so down seeing a new patch under his eye earlier. So disheartening when I thought it was going ha. He has a 7 day break at the moment on the itraconazole. Starts it again for one more week Thursday. Then a culture. I doubt this would be negative though. Probs looking at another month on top of that last treatment next week.

*hard work* :(
