Good morning.

I brought my cats back from a 9 day boarding at my primary vet (vet/kennel). My female cat was fine the first night back however, since the 20th, she has been sneezing twice at various intervals. The other cat is fine.

She has gotten pretty tired (which might be due to a hot apartment and her refusal to come into the room with the a/c), has runny eyes and a runny nose which is also causing her to swallow a lot.

No labored breathing except when her nose gets too stuffy. She will lick up the wet food like it is nobodies business and her eyes still seem clear, despite the goop on the corners.

I have taken her to the vet twice in a month. The first time was for an ear infection to which they gave me ear drops. The second time was due to an eye infection which they gave me eye drops. Both seemed to have cleared up on their own and both times, she was shot with an extra dose of antibiotics in case of something underlying.

I am hesitant to take her back to the vet AGAIN, only for them to tell me it's a cold and it will pass, which is what they told me last time. We are getting ready to move and money is tight.

So long as she is eating and drinking and not wheezing, can I treat this as a 'observe for a few more days and then decide?'

So far I have been putting her in a room with steam from a hot shower and giving her a can of wet food. The wet food might be going up to 2 cans so that I can make sure she is getting enough water.

She has never had a cold before and is 7 years old.

Most likely, the stress of being at the boarding facility has triggered an upper respiratory infection and it's showing in the stuffy nose, runny eyes, and ear infection.  If they gave her the Convenia shot (which I'm not a fan of), that might take care of the lingering effects, but you might need to call the vet or take her back in for a check.  You don't want to let it go too long as it can settle in her lungs and that's a different problem.  Continue what you're doing, though.  Keep an eye on her and if she continues to be lethargic (a side effect of Convenia), not socializing, stops eating or has a decreased appetite, stops visiting the litter box, then she needs to get to the vet immediately.

Thank you for your response. I will continue to monitor her and also give the vet a call tomorrow.
