I am looking for advice regarding my 1 year old ragdoll cat who occasionally gets sick for no apparent reason. About once a month my kitty will get sick where she vomits, has diarrhea, lethargy and overall acts depressed. She has been to a few very reputable vets where they have done exams and complete blood work finding nothing abnormal. When she becomes sick, it usually lasts about 3 days then seems to snap out of it and be back to normal. She is on a very expensive Gastrointestinal vet food which has helped a bit wit the frequency but i just feel so sad for her when she does become ill. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know if it's some kind of IBD/IBS thing but you might want to look into the probiotics used to help control IBD symptoms.  They won't do any harm and they may help.

http://ibdkitties.net/Probiotics.html   is a good summary about probiotics as they relate to IBD.

As far as food goes you might want to experiment with some of the foods that are close to just the meat, liver and supplements.  Foods like Nature's Variety Instinct, Wild Calling or Hounds & Gatos.  It's very much a trial and error thing.  Some kitties have issues with thickeners and the Hounds & Gatos in particular does have I believe three different thickeners in it.

I don't know if it's something you would be interested in but some IBD kitties have done very well on a raw or home cooked diet.  http://www.thecatsite.com/f/65/raw-home-cooked-cat-food   is the forum for raw and home cooked diets.  It has a lot of articles at the top of the forum with general info about those diets.
