Hello all!

I'm a newbie here & am thrilled with this really awesome website!

I'm Lisa & live in Northern Calif (small coastal town), love cats, have had cats all my life (I'm 50-something so that's lots of cats!). A few years ago I worked with a local rescue group doing fostering/adoptions/spay-neuter help; I loved fostering! especially the kittens! But I'm now in a smaller apartment so can't foster anymore, but I have 10 wonderful kitties! All are "rescue", spayed/neutered, indoor only and are endlessly amusing, affectionate, quirky (and sometimes a bit of a pain-in-the-you-know-what) . I'm so sorry I don't have any pictures yet as I'm in the process of upgrading my ancient computer & currently only have access on my lunch hour at work, so please be patient...believe me I'd love to show them off!

Until I can get some pictures, I'd like to introduce them with a brief description of each (will try to be brief...I could write volumes about each one tho...). They are ages 15 to 7, 2 males & 8 females, all pretty healthy & they more-or-less "grew up" together (I got them all as kittens) so they get along remarkable well:

Mouse, 15yrs female, my beautiful long-haired brown/black tabby...my oldest & only long-haired kitty. Aka "Princess Mouse Flufftail". She's hyperthyroid, but stable on methimazole. I'm lucky in that she's a dream to pill! altho Pill Pockets are really great...she lets me know when it's time for her pill!

Tommy & Tina, 10yrs female siblings, tabby/white bi-color. Tommy was a boy until I took "him" to be neutered LOL! I just kept the name. They're a bit fussy but very sweet.

Kyra & Sasha, 9yrs male siblings, the absolutely sweetest cats I've ever had! Kyra is the "alpha" or dominant male, very smart & is mostly white w/tabby markings on head & tail (think Turkish Van), he also has these killer blue/green eyes. Sasha is a striped brown tabby who would live on my shoulder if he could! He jumps up onto me from the floor & has learned to keep his claws in (thankfully!).

Tiffany, Minnie Mouse, Daniella, 8yrs female, unrelated; Tiffany is a little calico-tortie/white bi-color & has tons of personality! Minnie is a sweet little striped brown tabby, and Daniella is mostly white with faint gray markings on head/tail.

Honey & Tawny, 7yrs female siblings. Honey aka "Pudge Pie" (she's fat) is very very sweet & has the most endearing little meow. Tawny is really quirky but also very sweet, very vocal. They are a really strange color (I can't wait to get those pics)...sort of a dilute (light gray/apricot) tabby/tortie & have blue eyes. As kittens I thought they would by lynx-points but their fur got darker as they got older.

Well, that's my cat-family! I will try to get some pictures as soon as I can...and sorry for the long post!  I'm looking forward to checking out all the really great stuff on this fantastic website!

Hi Lisa and welcome to the site

Don't apologize for the length of your post, it's nice to "meet" people and their fur-family, thanks for sharing.

l'm looking forward to your pictures. Honey and Tawny's colour sounds intriguing. ls it like a Snowshoe colour?

Thank You all for the warm welcome!
this seems like such a friendly site; I'm hoping to get a new laptop soon so I can participate more...and get those pics!!

Andyra, thank you for asking about the coloring of Honey & Tawny...they are pretty unique (I think but then don't we all feel that way about our fur-babies! lol). They have a tortie-tabby pattern; sort of mottled but with discernible tabby markings on the head, striped tail, etc. and the color is a dilute version...sort of fawn/cream/slatey blue/apricot. I did find a picture on another website that looks very similar, but being a newbie, I'm not sure if that's ok to link it here? The other odd thing is that they have blue eyes.

They were "shelter" kitties; the rescue group I was active with at the time worked with our county animal shelter, and would get kittens/cats to place in foster homes until they could be adopted (I was one of the "foster moms"). There were 3 females in this litter (no info on where they came from or the parent cats); when I got them they were about 3-4 months old and had some health issues (very bad ear mite infestation & the usual upper respiratory/conjunctivitis). The other kitten was a gray tabby (dark gray w/light background, almost a silver tabby) & she got adopted right away (once the health issue was resolved of course). These 2 (Honey & Tawny) didn't get adopted & their conjunctivitis never really resolved 100%, so I ended up keeping them (ok I confess I fell in love with Honey!). Also,Tawny has some mild behavior issues; as usual with a lot of these kitties, they aren't well socialized & she's a bit quirky, a bit high-strung, and is very head-shy (probably from having to treat her ear mite/eye problems). I wish I'd taken pictures of them as kittens, they were really beautiful; they had light blue gray/apricot tabby "points" with a pale fawn coat (think champagne/silver/gold). Given their points & blue eyes, I thought they were lynx-points, but their coats gradually darkened & are now quite a bit darker overall.

Well eeek sorry for going on & on...I tend to get carried away!

I will get pictures as soon as I can!

Thank you all again & have a great weekend...(time for me to get back to work LOL)
