I am new into this site. I think it is great. I would like help in getting my newest furbaby to get along with our long time cat of 5 years. The new baby, Shilo (about a year old) is adopted and chases Beautiful (5 years old). Beautiful hisses and hides. Once in awhile a fight occurs. I want them to get along.
Any suggestions would very appreciated.

Thank you,
Shawn

Hi Shawn and welcome to the site!
How long have they been together? It's only natural for cats to dislike each other at first because they are territorial animals. The intensity of the aggression should lessen with time and some cats even become good friends. Others just learn to accept each other as neighbors.

When they do fight, it's best not to shout at them or punish them in any way - you want them to have positive associations of each other. It's best to distract them with a toy or a treat.
