I recently adopted a 5 month old tuxedo cat. He is a sweet, loving boy, but I noticed that he was very gassy. Furthermore, his poops are HORRENDOUS. I've had cats before, and never have I smelled so foul a bowel -- it consumes the entire house! I also noticed that it is slightly runny (I use the Breeze litter system and the pellets were sticking to the poop which only happens with loose stools). I've done some Googling, and most people suggest switching him to a grain-free diet, but he's actually already on (and has been for some time) Blue Wilderness kitten which is high protein and grain free. He was just de-wormed last month. Any suggestions? Could the high protein, grain-free actually be too rich for his tummy? Thank  you for any advice you can give!

He could have one of the parasites that aren't normally checked for.  If it doesn't clear up with a diet chance I would get a PCR fecal test done, it checks for the parasites that the float test doesn't check for.

Is he on a grain free dry food?  I know one of my kitties will get diarrhea from grain free drys but not the wet foods.

He is on grain free dry, but no wet food. Perhaps that would be worth a shot?

I agree with Denice. Your kitten perhaps have Giardia or another parasite that is not easily detected at the regular vet clinic.
