The kids are doing great! Friedrich is much more interested in playing than Adelynn is but she entertains his interest most of the time. They aren't snuggling together yet but they are happy roommates. I have 3 litter boxes set up but they both use the same one all the time, presumably to keep covering up the other ones scent. (Any other ideas on this?) Also they are both much more interested in each other than they are in me...I feel a bit like the "3rd wheel" at this point :( Is this normal?

You're so fortunate that they get along so well so quickly. lt literally takes months for some cats to tolerate being in the same room

lt looks like they'll end up being close.

What a lovely story, you did so well and it turned out great. I wish I had the courage to get another cat. Smudge is 11 months but I would not be able to handle it if things didn't go well.

The kids are doing great! Adelynn has settled in beautifully and Friedrich has adjusted to his new playmate. He no longer tries to play rough with me...he saves that for his sister and just loves on me :)

Thanks! It just takes time (more or less, depending on the cats) and patience...you could do it too!

Awe I'm jealous. It's been a week and my new cat has no issues with my other cat but first cat is still unsure of the new addition. But they are getting closer! They both laid on me last night lol

The new girl was running around like crazy last night. She ran up to the other cat and tapped him and ran away. He just looked up at me like ***??
He's a very active cat too. So I'm sure after he's comfy with things I'll have a messy house... Lol

Sounds like you guys are doing really great! It just takes time for them to forge a relationship on their own. We are still adjusting to our new normal. Adelynn and Friedrich are both so young that they'll continue to grow and change together; every day is an adventure. I'll tell you that with 2 young, busy, active cats my place is always a bit messy with cat toys, rolled up rugs (how do they manage to do this constantly?!), and shreds of paper (Adelynn loves to tear and chew up paper and cardboard). I was always told before I got a second cat that having 2 isn't any more work than having 1 and that was, most definitely, a lie! Feeding, litter box cleaning, bedtime, playtime, cleaning up toys, etc takes more than twice the time and effort for sure but it's worth it for my sweet girl and the happiness and love she and Friedrich bring to each other!

Lol yea I did a total house clean today and attempt at de-fleaing and thought man I need a basket or something for freakin cat toys.
And found a fake mouse that one of the dogs got ahold of... It's all slobbery now... Glad to see they are taking toys downstairs to the dogs buuuttt I rather them not.
