Hello everyone, I am a new user checking in with a concern about my cat, Mowgli. I took him in off the streets a little over a year ago and have been very diligent with his shots, checkups, and all other medical attention. Over the past few weeks, he's started developing dark spots on both sides of his snout--not the actual nose, which has always been pink with dark spots, but the snout, which has always been white. I've included before and after pictures below.

We have been traveling a lot lately because I'm kind of living in two places until I move into my new home--he doesn't like to travel. Could this be stress-related, or perhaps just a coincidence and something else? The spots don't seem to be raised at all and they don't seem to cause him pain when I touch them, but I will continue to pay attention to see if they grow more. Any ideas what this could be? Thank you!

Sorry, I forgot to mention--the vet estimated that he was "about" one year old in October, so he is "about" a year and a half old!

Hi Sarah - welcome to the forum !

I won't comment on the discolouration of his nose bridge but, I think I'm seeing a small dark spot near the lower corner of his right eye that doesn't appear in the earlier photo.

This type of spot is pigmentation and is frequently seen in cats.

It does need to be monitored, though, because sometimes these things progress and can be quite a concern.

I always recommend that people search out a competent cat-only Veterinarian - general-practice Vets (for the most part) should be left for the dogs.

There is an older thread about one case of 'eye spots'.  This is not to alarm you - but, to inform you: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/149263/official-diagnosis-feline-diffuse-iris-melanoma

Hi! I know this is a super old thread but I'm hoping you still get notifications. Did you ever find out what was going on with Mowgli? I ask because my cat Olivia has exactly the same issue.
