Early this evening, my 7-month-old kitten will be put to sleep; her little body is no longer fighting the FIP. I suffered with the decision, but her quality of life has been drastically reduced in the past several days. This morning, she urinated on my bed--and I then *knew* that my husband and I have made the right decision, no matter how painful it is to us.

Shortly around 4:30 pm (CST) she will cross over the Rainbow Bridge. I will always cherish the three short months that I had with her and always dream of the wonderful adult companion she would have become. Yet, apparently, it is not her time to stay. My husband and I will grieve; we will heal; and (assuming that our adult's bloodwork remains negative for the virus) we will one day find enough space in our hearts to love another cat again.

My dearest Savannah, may you always smile.

Oh I am so sorry, so sorry. I am writing to tell you I understand. We are in the same position. Our Freddie is just 7 months, and has lost his valiant fight with leukemia. Our rural vet will make a housecall to Eric and I this weekend. I have been crying for days. He weighs just 4 lbs now and we're ready. As hard as it is for you, do know that you gave her the best love, and Savannah (very pretty name) will watch over you. You will feel her spirit, I just know it. If you want to talk about it, you can PM me, as I cannot believe how this has devastated us as well.

Jenks I have a candle lit in the window to light the way. There is an native american saying that when someone dies, at the head of the bridge to heaven, they are met with the animals that have fallen under their care. It is up to the animals to say if the person is allowed on the Bridge, and if it is so, then the person is escorted by the animals. I have no doubt you will be escorted across that bridge one day.

You have my heart, I am so very sorry.....****tears********

Just the other day, I told a dear friend that I have memories of moments that, for me, mark various life stages. Tonight, my husband and I put our dear Savannah to sleep; it was one of *the* most difficult things I've ever had to do. Seeing her precious little body on that table, knowing that I had to walk away and leave her behind...well, the very though still has me sobbing. I am so heartbroken. This pain feels as though it's choking me.

I want to say, though, how wonderful all of you are; I know that you, my fellow pet lovers, understand what I'm feeling right now, that I am not alone in experiencing such grief. Thank you SOOO much for your support and well wishes.

Hissy, I burst into tears after finishing your first sentence. I sobered up for the rest until I got to your ending, when I burst into tears again. That is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me. Bless you. And thank you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Here's hoping you will find some comfort in the wonderful memories of her, and that her time, while short, was filled with your love. RIP Savannah.
