I have a cat that undergoes stud one month ago. I really don't know if the stud service is successful but I suspected my cat to be pregnant now. She gains weight, and her nipples turns bright pink lately, also her belly is now round.

Last day and even today, I noticed a change in her appetite. She ate few for the last two days. Usually she ate 2 or more cans of fancy feast (85grams) in a day, but now she ate only one can. Whenever i serve her food, she just taste a few and then she leave it.. Also her sound changed. Her voice becomes rough and low pitch.

Is this normal?

Are you sure that she had no matings before that from getting out?  They usually do not slow down on overall food till the end.  Though she may be running out of space so I would see if she eats better if offered more frequent meals.

Is she eating only the Fancy Feast?

She sounds pregnant yes.  This pinking of  teats is much revealing, happens about 21 days.

Tthe other changes arent typical with pregnancy.   Some variations are surely common, as always.  Down and up.   But not said its typical.

Typical may be smaller portions, as there is more swellings in the belly. But not the totale as such.

How often are you giving her food?  If it is say, twice a day, make it at least 4 times a day now - because there is less place in the stomach...

If you notice any more alarming signals - contact your vet.

Good luck!

I feed her twice a day. One can in the morning and one in evening. She ate fancy feast, friskies and wwhiskas wet food.

Can a cat get jealous of a new kitten? We have newkitten also...

Make sure she get food more often!    Smaller portions but more often.

The  food sorts, although not first rate, are OK because they are wet food.  Dry food of the same brand isnt enough.

She perhaps feels stressed by the kittens?   Or she notices you are loving them much, and dont have the same time for her as earlier....

Its important you show her she is still your most important love.   :)    Basic psychology!   :)

I would not think a pregnant cat would be jealous to point it would stop eating.  She sounds sick.  Maybe the new kitten is sick.  Since your a breeder did you isolate the new kitten/have it tested?  If she is eating no dry I would be concerned about her health adn the kittens as that seems like to little food for a cat growing babies.

I also would go for 3 or 4 times a day feeding at minimum.  Only so much room in stomach when kittens are growing.

Did she JUST start pinking up-If it has been awhile I would worry she was already bred.  Do you feel movement from kittens?

If she went to stud and got pregnant by that cat most likely no.  If she got out or mated with a cat in your house and was further along then yes.  If she is further along that could explain the lack of eating if she is a lot closer then you thought.

Ok.. So here is what happen. I owned a ragdoll male and female siamese. Accidentally they mated. I think she's pregnant because of the reasons as i posted above. Last june 12, i bring home new kitten, an american shorthair 2 months old. To prevent future crossbreeding between cats, i decided to isolate the ragdoll last june 15. So in our house was the ASH and the siamese... It was now the second day the siamese eats few... Before the ash and siamese eat together.

You feel the kittens moving usually about 2 weeks before the delivery.  Some feel them even 3 weeks before.

The last days of pregnancy, when they drop, the kittens dont move as much, and also, they do move further down the belly, not where you felt them earlier.

Before that, you dont feel the kittens move.  But if you are good with palpation you may feel them being there, as clumps so to speak, from about week 5, not earlier.

If she is good friend with the male, she may be depressed because he is away!   Perhaps a Feliway diffuser will  lighten up her feelings??

If the male is friendly, he cant do much at this moment.  Ie if he doenst molest her nor the kitten... and he cant make them pregnant as yet.  Later but not now.

You want to use him as a stud?  If not, consider neutering him, its the easiest solution.   :)

In that case, my advice is you proceed and neuter him as soon you  reasonably can  do it.  Both he and you will have an easier life.

I know, my both residents were studs. The younger one even hadnt no problem with him being fertile, as his dad was still the revire holder even after his neutering,  taking on him all the burdens of being watchful.   He is 13 today, by the way.   As youngster he had no problems, problems come later on when he was fully grown at 18+ months.  The younger had never any problems, as said.

And yet, both were visibly relieved when they got neutered.
