.....It says this drug can block corona viruses..........
First, thanks for posting this news !

Second, we need to slow down our interpreting of the news, though......what's been discovered is not YET a drug......as the article headline reads, it's an "inhibitor"......here, from the article, check this:
A team of scientists...have discovered a compound they call ‘K22,’ which appears to block the ability of the virus to spread...

They said the recent SARS epidemic and MERS outbreak mean there should be urgent investment in...developing medicines.

The scientists said the virus reproduces in the cells that line the human respiratory system. But K22 acts early on to prevent the virus from taking control of the cell membranes...
A lot more work to be done....considering the need for speed in receiving a usable drug, however, I suspect we'll see speed records set here !

And, with any luck, a feline version can follow quickly.....perhaps, a 'human' version would work in kitties.

(apologies in advance for this editorializing:  perhaps, even just a few billion $ could be extracted from the proposed 200 billion already committed by Qatar for the 2022 FIFA event...and redirected toward this research???)

Pardon my archaic semantics.  Compound, substance, drug, stuff, whatever "K22" is, I'm excited about it.
