A stray cat gave birth in the bushes by my porch. It has been fun watching the mom "cat talk" to them like "don't do this!don't do that!".She eats alot since she is still nursing. She did not let them out of the bushes til they were 5 weeks old.The mom was so excited that they were out walking around. She even came up to me and meowed continuously. One of the kittens is smaller so the mom will not let her come out of the bushes and let her play on my porch like I do with her sibling. If your cat has kittens be careful of what they play with after a few weeks-no string or feathers.Baby proof your house! And lots of chew toys.I brought one in at 5 weeks and a year later another at 3 months(all older now).

What are your plans for this mama cat and kittens?  Are you going to spay mama and find homes for the kittens?  Are you working at socializing them?  They are certainly old enough to leave mom.  If you plan on leaving them there to be outside cats, you should get them spayed (and neutered if any are boys) very soon, because believe it or not, a kitten can get pregnant at 5 months of age, and mama can get pregnant again while still nursing, in fact she could be pregnant again already.  What is cute now could become a huge problem by the end of the summer.  Check out our "Caring for Strays and Ferals" forum for advice on how to do this.  There may be TNR help available in your area.

My cat Maggie-no longer stray-that I brought in at 3 months loves to take a bath and made up a game of her own with bottle caps. She slides it under the bathroom door, trys to get it with her paw,if not goes to the other side and repeats it.A stray can be turned into a pet.Maggie was born in the wild with 3 siblings and a mom.

I played with the kittens every night including the mom, fed, and gave treats..They are all socialized now.One kitten disappeared, the other was adopted out.I live in an apartment so I cannot TNR the mama cat.I know I will break down in tears if she is taken to animal control but I do not have much choice.I cannot take her in because I have 3 cats-one with IBD.The leasing office sets traps out every day.She is a beautiful cat

So now CoCo, the cat that came back, I have been trying to get adopted for over 6 months. I took her to the vet to check her hearing and eyesite because she does not respond when my cats hiss, growl, and chase her. She doesnt have her ears back, hiss, or stand on her haunches. Her tail quivers. Just goes strait back to the bedroom.CoCo is ok. My vet thinks she has chosen my bedroom as her permanent home. So she needs a home with no kids, no pets and not a big house.

Aww, are you not able to keep her long-term?

It's wonderful that you have accomplished so much with these cats. They have much better futures now, thanks to you! :)

I can but I have my other cats to pay attention to, especially my cat Maggie. It has gotten easier since she will eat in my kitchen. After that to the bedroom. She does not hide anymore except when she sees my cats. Either on my bed or chair.
My friends kept saying when she was outside that she's too feral but I took her in by grabbed her by the scruff of the neck then she immediately started purring.
