Hello everyone,

I can't seem to find a "natural" (no fillers, by-products, corn etc) food for my cat, that agrees with her stomach. I adopted her roughly 6 months ago, and she was eating Purina Pro Plan Indoor turkey (dry) only. I didn't/don't like the ingredients one bit so I wanted to change. I decided to try Blue Buffalo Salmon (dry), and a mixture of Blue Buffalo wet. After several weeks of transitioning, it was clear that the food was not going to agree with her stomach...she had bad diaherra :(

I then switched back to the Pro Plan (dry) to get her back to normal. Long story short, I then tried Halo chicken grain free (dry and wet), then Halo turkey (dry and wet). It seems she transitions well, right up until the first week of 100%, then her poop gets really soft, and runny. She seems to be able to handle the wet, but not the dry. She still gets a variety of Halo and Wellness wet in the evening, but I want to find a better quality dry for the morning.

I'm at a loss....can some cats never handle high quality foods? I have been reading that wet food is the way to go, but she absolutely loves her dry. Is there a middle quality dry food anyone can suggest? Not too rich in protein, high in fibre, and no fillers/by-products?

She's a 1 and a half year old, medium hair, fixed tabby :)

Thanks in advance!

If she can tolerate the Halo and Wellness canned, but not the dry, I would suspect that there was an ingredient in the dry that is not agreeing with her...not because it is a "high quality" food.

Have you tried Nature's Variety Instinct Limited Ingredient Turkey formula?

One of my kitties can't handle the high quality grain free drys they will  give her diarrhea every time.  I always assumed they were too rich for her.  She is fine with the wet food.  Unfortunately my kitties are die hard kibble addicts and they still want that little bit of dry every day, they are on mostly wet.  I use a food that is grain free but it has a lot of the veggie and fruit fillers and she doesn't have issues with that.

I haven't tried Nature's Variety yet. I'll have to give it a try. The only thing that worries me with that one, is that it has bones in the cans. Can they choke on the bones? (Sorry for the silly questions, I'm new to cat nutrition)

What's the name of the food that you use? It's my assumption as well, that the other grain free foods are too rich for her as well :(

For their little bit of kibble they get Fromm's Salmon ala Veg.  They also make a Chicken ala Veg which normally would be a better choice but one of my kitties has developed a chicken allergy.

The bone fragments are very tiny. The only canned version I have really noticed it in is the LID Duck. The pieces I have seen are 1/2 the size of a grain of rice or smaller.
