Late today because reasons.

Today's question is: What have some fun things you have done for Father's Day (either for tomorrow or in the past)?

Back when my grandma was still around, we'd go visit her several times each year; Father's Day being one of those times. She owned an orchard where there were plenty of fruits. On Father's Day, some of my distant cousins -- with whom I'm not close with, but we talk and hang out at grandma's place -- would get together, with my dad, and we'd go out into the orchard and pick durians, papayas, mangosteens and bananas. We'd have sort of a competition to see which father-son pair would collect the most fruits. We even assigned scores to each fruit... after all, it's easier to carry 3 bananas than it is to carry 3 full-sized durians. Supposedly, the winner gets to sit around and watch the others prepare fruit baskets, but in reality it didn't matter who won, because no one wanted to be seen as the lazy one.

Sounds like a fun and competitive tradition for your Father's Day. Such great memories. :D

When my in-laws and my parents lived much closer, we would spend the day barbequing everything under the sun. It was quite the spread of food. I usually didn't eat the day before because I knew the calories for the next day would be enough to last a week. :lol3: I loved spending Father's Day that way and miss it. Yesterday we just spent the day out with the dogs - walking and hiking about. Our daughter was not available to get together. We had a nice day. The kitties made sure that dad felt special. Even Perla sat by dad last night. :D :heart3:

When my father was alive, I would normally have him over for a cookout. He would eat like he hadn't eaten in months. :lol3: No matter what else I had, I would have to make sure there were plan Lays potato chips for him and Deutschmacher brand hot dogs. He just had to have them.
