Hello. I will try my best to explain the issue my cat Princess is having. We have guessed her age to be between 11yrs old-14yrs old. Last week her body/stomach are started moving a lot as she was breathing. We took her to the vet and they did blood work( which came back good) and gave her an antibiotic and B12shot and also prescribed 1/8 of a tablet of aminophylline twice a day and one tablet of clavamox every twelve hours. After a few days she wasn't eating enough to give her the clavamox so we took her back to the vet and they gave her another antibiotic and b12 shot and she seems to be doing better but the breathing still speeds up every now and then. If it continues they are going to do a chest X-ray. We will probably take her to the feline specialist clinic in a few days when we get paid again. She went there last year because she was throwing up and not eating enough and she had a multitude of test and blood panels and also an ultra sound and everything came back normal. I forgot what pill they gave her for a few days and she stopped throwing up and started eating normal again. What might the breathing trouble be? It has us extremely worried. She is our oldest kitty and the first one we took in.

You said her body/stomach starting moving a lot as she was breathing. Do you mean that her sides were going in and out as if she was breathing fast? Or was there some other movement? Breathing fast could be indicative of several issues. The one I'd be most worried about is possible fluid build-up in the lungs or chest cavity. Asthma can also affect breathing, as well as pain and being overheated. Any other symptoms?

WHY are they giving her the antibiotic?  Did they detect an infection somewhere, or is this just an "in case" type thing?

My first thought with shortness of breath is heart issues, although it could really just be allergies, or asthma, or any of lots of things.  Could even be a nasal infection

oops, sorry I forgot to mention the vet they detected a slight virus. I started doing more web searching after I put up my earlier post and started reading several articles that mentioned heart issues.I hope to get the chest X-ray done this week, I will also have to finish packing and moving this week too so that's why I haven't done the X-ray yet(over $500 in vet bills this week). She is acting more like herself today but I will do the X-ray even if it seems her condition keeps improving. I'm worried about the stress of the move on her but the new apartment doesn't look too much different from this one and it's on the same street so she won't travel far.

Any changes now that she's been on antibiotics for a couple of days?

Hi

I would def. wait for the x-ray. Blood count is one thing but x-ray is another.  The blood test can tell if her cell count is elevated but an x-ray can give a more clear picture of what is going on.

we still haven't heard any more info about the results but they have called to check on her. She seems to be doing much better now, I am hoping she stays that way. Thank you for the vibes. I will update when I get more info
