My kitten Toulouse is, I think, suffering an upper respiratory infection but I cannot afford to take him to a vet to get officially checked. He even has this weird lip issue where it looks like an ulcer or canker sore! Please someone help me figure a way to cure him with home remedies!

Please don't try to use any home remedies to cure him. Most human medicine is toxic to cats as their liver is missing some enzymes that filter out toxins. Did you check in the section of this site on what to do if you need to see a vet and don't have money? How old is your cat? What state are you in? Have you tried calling around to different veterinary clinics to see if one of them will work with you financially?

He is a newborn kitten. He is one of the two kittens that survived a litter of 6. He is only around 2-3 months I assume. I was thinking home remedies because my older cat gotten conjunctivitis in both her eyes and a diluted saline solution healed that up quick in a jiffy. I'm terrified also to find one of my strictly outdoor cats wobbling and falling over as she walked this morning. I haven't called any of them because there is very few where I live. I'm really worried though...

It never hurts calling around. You're not obligated to bring them in just because you call to inquire about a cost or a condition (though it may be strongly suggested, especially if they are in fact ill), but calling around also lets you find a vet who is understanding of your financial situation. If there are few near you, this makes the list that much shorter. If they can't help you, they may be able to direct you to a closer or more inexpensive office you may not have known about.

If it is a URI, the kitten may need fluids and medication, but neither of those are a "black and white" situation where you can diagnose at home. There are a few ways to treat URIs, but a vet will have to determine if that's the case for Toulouse and what treatment is required.

If the lip is a new development, please take him in to a vet.

I'll see what I can do. It's just that my family has incredibly limited options and we put our cats first over us when it comes down to eating. I'm going to take them to the humane society and see what they can do as me and my sister helped them on a regular basis when school was on.
