Magic is driving me crazy. If I get up to go into the other room, he walks right behind me almost on my heels. Then all of a sudden, he'll jet out in front of me and stop, look around, and meow at me like "okay, you go can now." I can't tell you how many times he's about tripped us up. Is this something that Persians do? Jack used to do the same thing. Good thing I have a night light in the hall, or I'd be spending lots of time in the ER.

Our cat, Snowball, does something very similiar and he's not even a Persian. We have always felt Snowball stops right in front of us because he enjoys our company and wants some attention. BTW, we are really used to this behavior so no one at my house has ever almost fallen because of the cat.

Sorry I wasn't very helpful, hopefully some of the others will have good advice for you.

Hi!
I have 3 cats (not Persians) and they all did that when they were new. Joji (the oldest) hardly does it anymore but when she does she knows how to avoid us from tripping over her and stops right where we can see her and pet her. With Skinny, she will trip us once in a while and QT is the worst. They all came to me at different times with QT being the latest. I think it takes time for our kitties to adjust their "FBI" maneuvers so as not to cause accidents. You will have to be patient and watch your step in the meantime!

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to learn some FBI manuvuers of my own. It's hard not to fall over Magic in the middle of the night in my bedroom. When I get up out of bed, he bails off the bed, and my room is pitch black and so is he. None of the other cats have ever done this. I was just curious if it was something with the breed. Toby doesn't do it. He just flies right between your legs and jumps up on something.
