I'm a fairly new cat owner - I have had them before but it's been many years now -  and I'm  also newly living alone (I left our dog behind at my hubby's as we are now separated)  ...I got a cat because I love animals, have always had a pet of some type (was usually a dog) & wanted a little companionship at home ...I chose a cat because they are easier if you have to gone for a few days here & there ...which I do.  I have to be gone for 3 days this weekend for business ...then 2 days next weekend for family.

I'm feeling very guilty about leaving him ...I have had him for about 7 weeks now - I have left him for a night several times & 2 nights once although I was able to come home & spend an hour or so with him on that occasion.  He does seem like he's mad at me after such times.  When I first get home he's very happy to see me but then shortly after he gets a bit nasty at me ...then he gets over it ...maybe it's my imagination, but it's happened twice now.  Otherwise we get on great. I'm thinking of getting another cat to keep him company ...just not sure I can afford the proper care of another ...what to do ...

Hi there--do you have a friend who can come in and check on him, maybe spend a little time with him, while you're gone?  Do you leave on a TV or radio while you're gone for company?  I always leave a TV on when we go out of town, even if a cat sitter's coming in, so kitties will hear some human voices.

Well, friends are a lot more important to have than TVs and radios, right?!
Maybe one of them can look in on your little guy while you're gone.
