Hi Everyone,

My poor cat and I are having some issues. I've only had her a few months, I got a cat from a foster home and when I got her she was on royal canin dry food. I struggle to afford such an expensive cat food because I'm a student. So, over a month ago I switched her to moderately priced dry food (Optimum) in combination with some Whiskas wet food at night. I've noticed that she's had mats around her bum (she's always had them), but every night over the past three days when she poops, she has a sloppy poop (formed but sloppy, not diarrhea) and I have to get a wet cloth and wipe her bum.

My poor cat really gets quite distressed when I wipe the poop off her bum hair and sometimes even tries to bite me. It's making me feel quite horrible. So I'm going to experiment with switching her off the wet food entirely and switching her back to biscuits. Or maybe trying the royal canin wet food because my cat Montana LOVES the wet food. I really don't want to stress my cat out further. Has anyone else experienced this type of situation?

Any advice on how to handle it?

I think your kitty is sensitive to one of the food especially wet food, Whiskas. I feed my cats Pro Plan wet food, but  sometime Friskies  to save save $. One of my cats has soft ice cream poop at the end of her bowel movement. Her poop returns back to normal once I switch back to pro plan. Pro plan wet food is OK (moderately price with OK quality).

I feed my cat a 1/2 can daily of 4 Health - by Tractor Supply.  The ingredients are wholesome and the price is good - I pay $0.49 for the 5.5/6 oz can ...not sure if you have Tractor Supply where you live.  He also gets 1/2  cup daily of 4 Health kibble ...his poops are like little dog poops.
