Hey everyone I have a beautiful cat that happens to be pregnant. She is a inside cat but escaped out of the bathroom window thru a screen that was tore on the side and I did not know it. I believe she got out several times before I caught her going out of it. Needles to say the screen has been replaced but she did get pregnant.
This will be her first litter as I rescued her after her mother left her outside my back door and left. she was about 4-5 weeks when we got her back in August. So she is still young and I am worried. I am feeling and seeing the kittens move in her belly but not sure when she got pregnant I know she got out in April but can not remember the week. Can anyone tell me how much longer we have before my tiger has her
?

Thank you so much for the links and advice I am more worried about her age since she is still so young. She seems to be doing well and is big as heck she is starting to leak milk from her nipples cause she has some white crustie stuff on her nipples. She has taking well to her birthing box and has been sleeping in it every night for about a week. Today she has been sleeping a lot and has not ate as much as usual. I am excited and nervous at the same time. We plan to keep a kitten and plan to get them spayed as well as the mother so not to have anymore mishaps. I just feel it will happen anytime now so I am keeping one eye on her at all times since I do have dogs in the house also. The dogs have never tried to hurt her so I do not think it will be a problem but watching very closely just to be safe. her birthing box is on my desk and out of reach from the dogs and has high sides on it so none can fall out. I cut a hole in the side so the mother can get in and out with ease and not have to jump to get in. I so wish it would happen already I have been waiting for what seems like forever..

She has very long hair and is getting close to her due date. I am worried her hair is so long that the kittens will not be able to nurse well from the hair covering her nipples. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Quite a few cats ARE longhaired, and they and their kittens manage...  In the last days of pregnancy the fur around the nipples falls off.  In much because the mom is licking them off, but in part because Mother Nature has made it so.

If you and She the Preggy are on good speaking terms, you can surely trim off the hairs on her tummy. But it is not the common to do, so as said, they usually do manage well anyways.

Good you are observant in this. Its always good to be prepared, it it will become necessary, you will have the scissors handy nearby.    :)

Well believe or not she did allow me to trim the hair on her belly I took about a inch of and I have a good view of her nipples now. I do believe she is leaking milk because they are pink with white crustie stuff on them. I may be wrong thou I am not real sure. Thanks for the info.

I will keep everyone posted and keeping my fingers crossed that they will be born soon since I will be going on vacation the end of next week and do not want to leave her if she has not had them..She has been very attached
to me today more then usual if I move she moves. She even follows me to the bathroom and gets in my lap while I am using the potty its kinda funny really
. She is also a little jumpy today. I do have a question thou I am wondering if she is getting enough food? She refuses dry food so I have her on wet food. How much should she be getting a day? I do feed her in the morning and at night. Should I be doing it three times a day or give her milk in the middle of the day???

if she ates each time she gots food, give her more often.  Especially now when her stomach is crushed by the babies.. So there is less place than usual.

Little but often should be the recipe.

If she manages well the milk, you can give it to her too.  Full fat is best here.  (many cats gets diarrhea from milk).  Goat milk is more safe - even kittens manages nicely goat milk.

But it costs more than cow milk.

Good luck!

She should be eating as much as she wants whenever she wants.  With babies there her stomach space will be limited. She must be watched and have someone coming by at least few times a day to ensure fresh food.

At the end she may refuse food up to few days before delivering.  My cat stopped for over 2 days.

Thanks for the advice she eats two 5.5 oz cans of food a day right now but I do keep food in her bowl for the most part at all times she does pretty good on milk the vet told me to put a raw egg in a cup of milk and mix it together and give her 1/4 cup daily as it will help her milk flow when she as kittens. I do remember doing this with our pregnant dogs we bread and raised Dalmatian's for years. But new the whole cat pregnancy thing.

Just raw egg yolk is better.   Raw egg white has some drawbacks.(some enzyme there destroys some B-vitamine, as I remember it)  Boiled egg white is ok, as this enzyme in question is destroyed by heat.

Although one of our experienced advisors, LDG, told the whole egg, isnt as bad as just the white, as yolk is balancing out the white - but still.  Add just yolk, and give her boiled white to eat...

Good luck!

Okay thank you I will do that instead of the whole egg.
She is starting to get very picky about her food. Food she normally eats she is not wanting certain kinds it will sit in her bowl all day but when I change it out and try a different flavor she will eat it.
She reminds me of me when I was pregnant couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to eat. LOL

So I have a feeling it will be happening soon. I will let everyone know as soon as things start happening..

I am beginning to worry about my girl. She should be due at any time now. I have been able to feel and see the babies moving quite well over the last couple of weeks but I have not seen nor felt them today and I am worried. Could this be a bad sign that her babies will be still born? Any advice Please!!

Difficult to say online.   The safe answer is you ask your vet.

But.   1.  In the last days immediately before delivery, they do drop. Kittens go down into birthing postitions - and are not as movable as before.  Also, they are in a different place than earlier, so unused people dont feel of them as much as before - soemtime not at all - but after this advice, suddenly they notice they feel them kittens move - further down...

Second - cats manage a too long pregnancy better than humans.  But they dont manage well premature deliveries - again unlike humans.

Good luck!

Yes, you MUST ask your vet.

In the unlikely event that the kittens have died inside her - and they are not born - this can kill her.

Still no kittens yet although I did feel slight movement last night she has dropped quite a bit now they are no longer in her ribs but much lower down. She can not even sit without her belly rubbing the floor also. Poor thing can't even scratch behind her ear on her own. She is still eating good and acting pretty normal although she is still hiding in the closet quite a bit. That's where she stays at night only to come out to use the litter box and get luvens  I am keeping my fingers cross that it will be very soon..
