Chalupa, my dying cat cat has lost already another 1b in just about a week. She's been on prednisolone 5mg for just about 2 months straight. She lost her appetite almost completely about 2 weeks ago. Looked into reducing prednisolone and have been giving her 2.5 mg for past 3 days. We have 4-2.5 mg pred pills left, do I need to get her more? Thing is her time is coming soon, or thought it was.  Confused by her behavior because as of this morning she seemed a lot hungrier than usual (which means she ate several seconds longer) and wanted to go outside and stuff, hasn't been like for a while. I will do anything have to for her and I know you can't just stop giving prednisolone.

Prednisolone also stimulates appetite so I would speak with your vet before reducing the dose. Perhaps there's something else going on.

Honestly my cat has been so sickly lately that I was scheduling an appointment for euthanasia today possibly, she must have realized that or something. What is going on with my cat is cancer and she is already past the point she was expected to live, don't want to let her get too bad. She stopped eating 2 or more weeks ago on her own so to me that means she's nearing the end. There's nothing the dr. can do. I've tried everything.

I'd leave the dosage where it is.  She felt better, she was hungry and ate, and she wanted outside for a bit.  It's Monday, so call the vet and let him know what's up.  Let him know that you may need more pills this weekend, but you're not sure yet.  Play it be ear, ya know?

@Peaches08 was just thinking same thing about keeping the dose where it is if she feels like sticking around. Seemed like the 5mg didn't make much difference anymore. Was waiting on a refill because you know, wasn't sure I'd need it. I think they might already have a refill there for waiting from one of my frantic email requests last week. Really was in a panic and have since decided not fight it or put her through so much anymore. Just trying to let her go.

This kind of thing is so hard.  I can honestly say I understand.  Is today right, is tomorrow better...there's no real good answer to this.  All we can do is our best and watch.
