I have a 10 month old female and male brother and sister . She is clearly pregnant. Swollen abdomen, growing nipples, the works. He has been fixed since April 29th. He was out of home a week prior. She was in and out of heat even after he came home. She got out a few times after he came home and I was wondering the likelihood that he got her pregnant even though he's fixed. I read that it's possible for him to be fertile 6 weeks after which is today. I'm not sure how far along she is. I know this was very irresponsible of me but i need some positive advice. So I guess I have a few questions through all my rambling (sorry I'm a rambler). What's the likelihood that Frank (my male) got Izzabelle (my female) pregnant? How do I tell when they are born? If they are inbred, What do I do?

If it was me I would have the female cat spayed and aborted ASAP. Call around and find a veterinary hospital that will get her in right away. Or you can try your local humane society for information on where to get her spayed now.

Maybe someone else here will have something more encouraging to say but really that is the only option I see fit.

I found a kitten once and she was very young. I thought about 3 to 4 months old. I brought her to a very elderly lady (in her middle 90's) because I couldn't keep her and the I had just put the lady's cat who had cancer and was no longer responding to chemo, down. Any way, I checked on the cat about 2 weeks or so later and OMG, I couldn't believe it, she was very pregnant. I got an appointment to have her spayed and aborted the next day. Yes, I felt bad. Yes, I could have placed the cat and her soon to be kittens into an out door home. Yes there are many other things I could have done. But, I didn't do them, I just had her spayed and aborted. Why? Because there are an enormous amount of cats, kittens, beautiful healthy cats and kittens destroyed every single day. It is a crazy amount that are killed in various horrible ways all the time, Every minute of every hour, so many of them are put to death, or starve, or worse. There is no way I could ever allow myself to be part of bringing more kittens into the world.

She could be pregnant by Frank, or she could have got pregnant on her getting out, or she could be pregnant by Frank and another cat. The possibilities are many. No way I can think of to give any kind of opinion as to the odds it be one way or another.

There could be no way of knowing when the kittens are born if they are inbred or not. I don't know what you would do with them if they are inbred. I don't know what you could do with them if they are not inbred either.

I am sorry I am not any help, but really I would seriously consider getting her in to a vet now.

Good luck in what ever you decide to do. It was good to get your male cat Frank neutered.

These things happen in the best-run cat homes! You are right to consider the options seriously. I do agree, that if you can find someone to do it, then a spay/abort would be best. These kittens may not be obviously inbred - brother -sister matings happen all the time in nature. But if there is any genetic abnormality in the parents, then it could show itself later if any of these first generation kittens mate. And of course, if by any chance your cats are also inbred, for coming from a colony where a dominant male mates with his sisters or daughters, then it could show up in this litter. You can never tell.
