My friends mother cat has a very badly infected nipple. The vet says it's most likely come from the kittens biting or scratching at her too hard. It's very black right now and has turned into some kind of abcess under the skin. The bad 'puss' stuff seems to be coming out now but quite slowly. The vet says the cat needs to go back every day for the antibiotic injection, however this is becoming very expensive. Especially as she could need this for 3 weeks as the vet has estimated. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this, and if anyone knows if it's possible to continue treatment at home? Thanks.

Get a second opinion.  The cat should be able to be treated with either an antibiotic in pill or liquid form.

Thanks, this is what I thought. I have a feeling that (unfortunately) this vet is only saying to come in every day for the money he is making!
