I spoke with the gastro-enterologist and, as I expected, the growth is cancerous, so we need to get it out a.s.a.p. One polyp that was removed was just on the "edge" so she wants to have the surgeon remove some of the tissue surrounding the polyp. I saw my primary dr Friday and am seeing the cardiologist (her husband) on Monday to get a cardiac release which I understand the hospital needs. Blood work Monday morning, cardioligist Monday afternoon, CAT and PET scans on Wed., What a week to look forward to! Surgery is scheduled for Monday, June 16.

I'll keep all of you posted this week, but since my husband is not at all computer literate , he won't be able to post. Pam (Winchester) if it is ok withyou, can I have Paul call you the week I'm in the hospital to tell you what's happening, and maybe you can post on TCS. Let me know if this will work.

Thank you to all of my TCS friends for your prayers and well wishes. I means so much to me.

I can only imagine what you thought when you heard that news.  Do they feel that this was found early?

I wasn't exactly surprised when I heard the news. Its kind of what I expected. A friend of mine had the same surgery 5 years ago and she's my source for all questions now and in the future. She did just fine and has friends who have been thru this also. I know it's highly treatable.

Did you have symptoms?  I'm glad that you not only have a friend to talk to about specifics, but that you got checked and understand that this really is highly treatable.

Lana, cancer is not always a death threat.   I've had it twice as you know and I luckily survived.  I've gone thru chemo twice and radiation once.  I know you're scared out of your mind but just do everything the doctor says.  I wish you the best of luck.

I will be praying for you. My step-uncle was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last year; he just got the news he is cancer free now. It's scary to hear the "c" word but you are not going to be alone walking through this. *hugs*

Continued vibes going out your way!

I'm usually very disillusioned about the US medical system, but in this case I'm happy with it. If you were in Canada, you would be waiting a few weeks to get into see a surgeon, up to 4 to 6 weeks for each of the PET and CT scans, followed by a return to see the surgeon and then another 4 to 6 weeks for your surgery date.  That's the downfall of a socialized medical system like we have. Yes, while we don't have to pay extra insurance or any additional expenses for our medical care (other than prescriptions), we also have long waits to have things done.
