I have a teenage female cat her name it Kittty and i noticed last night that when she meowed it sounded raspy like a sore throat? Can cats get sore throats? Has anyone had any experience with this or know what it could be she is acting normal and eating and drinking normal too.

Was this a one- time thing or is this a constant thing? As a one time thing it could have been anything.  Sometimes my cats meows sound strange if they are just waking up, for example.

If this is a constant and new thing, I would at least call your vet to discuss it.  While it doesn't sound like there are any major red flags other than the weird meow itself, it can't hurt to check in and see if the vet thinks it is anything to be concerned with.

l've had cats live to be 20 and none of them have had their voices change with age.

I had a cat who lived to be 17 named Chancy. When she was about a year old she started losing her meow. She eventually ended up sounding like a little lamb... Sort of a b-a-ah sound.

She was perfectly fine otherwise. Kind of a mystery.
