I have two cats. Calico sisters, 2 yrs old. They are strictly indoor cats. Well, the older sister snuck out while we were carrying a big box out the door, and we didn't realize she'd gotten out.  We left for the weekend, and she was stuck outside the whole weekend.

Now, she's had 2 kittens and is still in labor, but Sister is in her box "helping". She's all up in it, and licking Mom's nipples, licking the kittens and breathing fast as if she's the one in labor. Sister has let Mom eat both placentas though, so I don't think she's trying to take over or anything. I don't mind her "helping" but how far is too far? I kindof feel like Mom wants her there, as they are inseparable. Should I continue to allow Sister to "help", or put her in another room?

I think it will be fine. Female cats in the wild often babysit each other's litters and it sounds as if both cats are happy with the arrangement. The sister might just try to sneak out the door too, though, if she thinks that is what the momcat brought back!!!

I think this is different. Mommy is totally laid back, not worried at all about us holding them, or hurting them. She knows us so well. When we're holding one or both, she will either come up and rub on our hands and our faces, wanting us to pet her too, or nuzziling in our hair, or just sit there and nap for a few minutes, enjoying her time off.

However Sister is constantly trying to take them away from us and she hides them so well that it takes Mommy 2-3 hours to find them. Sister also laid on one of the kittens and killed him. I know sister wouldn't have killed one on purpose, but she had taken them, all 3, to a teeny tiny spot behind the couch. There wasn't enough room for all of them, and one little baby paid the ultimate price, for me not pinning Sister up. Right now, Sister has had them hidden from human eyes for 2 days. I know theyre in the storage room, but I don't know where at. I'll find them though.
