Why does my cat's poop smell SO bad?

My cat is 1 year old and always uses her litter box. The issue we are having is that her poo smells CRAZY bad. She is fed either raw or canned, completely grain free. Her stools look like they are supposed to, they just smell absolutely terrible when she uses the litter box. The smell usually lingers for five minutes and then somewhat goes away. But you can always tell when she's been to the bathroom! Since I know what I'm feeding her is high quality and species appropriate, I wonder if there might be something else going on that is causing her stools to smell so awful. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

One of my cats has high pong poop too! It's awful! You can smell it down the other end of the house :( She's a healthy cat though, just really stinky and changing food hasn't helped.

Well, as long as my girl is healthy, I'll deal with the smell! I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything, ya know?!

I know what you mean! I wondered for awhile if anything was wrong, but she's a happy and healthy cat with no signs of anything wrong but really stinky poop! It doesn't help that she doesn't over up her mess. She does it then high-tails it outta there hehe!

There are treats sold at some stores that are supposed to help. I believe they are a blend of herbs. Perhaps she needs some greens?

Yep, I've got an old guy like that, too.  Stinks to high heaven and he doesn't cover it!
I have to say, though, since we've switched his food to a higher quality grain free food, it's not as bad as it used to be.  But it sounds like you already feed your kitty high quality food.

We feed a grain-free food, it's by Purina. And we also feed a highish quality can food that has shredded chicken in it. But even before we swapped to them from whiskas and whatever dry food we happened to have she still was stinky. Maybe that's just how she is? our other boy eats exactly the same and he doesn't smell as bad as her!

Out of curiosity what is the grain free purina called?
