The company that I work for started mandatory training.  I am now sitting through two hours of EMS medical terminology.

I am very glad that I work from home now so I can cheat and do things like what I am doing now.

Paid mandatory training? If it's paid and you can do what you want, hey, what's the harm? :)

We have to do 8 hours of mandatory EMS refresher training every other year. It's not something I mind, because you never know when you might need it, and some things change between courses, e.g. CPR.

We have 2 hours a week for either 4 or 5 weeks.  Next week is abbreviations used by EMTs.  I don't understand doing it in the summer when most people take vacations.  If it's truly a have to thing they are going to have more makeup training to do by having it in the summer.

We are up to Nasopharyngeal Airway.  He's going in alphabetical order so we're getting close to the end.

I loved learning medical terminology, but I guess if you already know it all then it would be boring. It was all knew to me when I was learning it and found it fascinating. I love knowing what things mean now when I hear them mentioned.

I took a coding and billing coarse that included terminology.  It's impossible to memorize terms but there is a system of prefixes, suffixes and root words that makes it possible to know what a term means even if you have never seen it before.  There are people working for the company who haven't had a terminology course, I don't know how that happened but it's true.  Unfortunately the way this was taught they can't learn terminology because he just went through a long list of terms with their meaning.  No one can learn terminology that way.

Yeah, we have mandatory training where I work too - lots of it! I can't do it from home because this isn't a company blessed computer I wouldn't get credit.  Those on line classes are just so dang boring, even if the subject matter is interesting, makes me just about fall asleep.  Oh, and there are quizzes at the end you have to pass, so better not nod off too much.

Oh thank goodness my classes were never from home! We always did a cpr/first aid combo and then a suicide prevention training. The up side was always casual dress and ordering out for lunch. Plus I had awesome co workers I liked to be around back then. ;)

You know... I just realized I never had any of that sort of training when I worked in doctors offices. You'd think otherwise!
