Is there a way to keep wet food from drying out as quickly?

This is probably a ridiculous question (sorry). We are going camping for two nights next weekend and have a senior cat who is VERY picky and will only eat (junk) wet food most of the time. He will literally hold out until he gets what he wants. I cannot take him with me. He thinks he wants to go outside, but we tried that a few years ago and I thought he was going to die of a heart attack he was so scared. The neighbour will be coming by to do litter, water etc but I can't ask him to come by every couple hrs to feed my cat
There are also pet services that will come to your home but they will come once and do what the neighbour is doing. I thought about kitty boarding but considering his experience with vets I don't think it would be a good option. So I think if I can find a way to leave several cans out that would be the best option. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, he also has dry food out 24/7, but he only goes to that when he is desperate lol.

How many cans does he eat each day??? I'm sure the neighbor wouldn't mind popping in morning and night to lay down a can of food? Especially if he has dry out too I'd imagine he'll be fine.

This is what I would do. If he could come by twice a day your cat should be fine.

What about adding a few teaspoons of water to the wet food?

I don't know if I would add water to the food. It might help it keep moist a little bit longer but it will ruin the consistency and make it worse I think. And if your cat is that picky it might be a problem.

Can you freeze some of his meals into ice cube trays and have your neighbour put one fresh portion and a frozen portion out for later? If he is picking about the consistency, it'll still retain the same amount of water, but require more time before it's thawed and ready for him to eat. You can always test if it's still palatable to him this week.
