I adopted a cat last Saturday from a lovely kitty shelter in the area that my roommate adopted from several months ago. I call her Dali(short version of the name she had at the shelter), and she's a sweet, solid black 2 year old with big green eyes who loves to perch on your shoulder and purr. If you pick her up she'll actually start turning around and start to climb up on your shoulder! She's been doing really well at the house and likes to crawl under blankets and lie down in the bathroom sink. She like's playing with a little handmade lace toy we put together, and when I wake up in the morning she runs in to get attention.

Things are still a little tense with her and my roommate's kitty, but they've been interacting amazingly well compared to my first two cats. They're already comfortable with a little play, though they haven't entirely figured things out. We'll have to keep his nails trimmed since Dali is declawed, though. I don't know who declawed her, I'm guessing she had previous owners who had it done. It's a little sad, I think cats deserve (and need!)to have their claws, but I suppose what's done is done. My roommate's cat mostly follows and watches her, and tries to initiate play a little more than she does. He even cries if he knows she's in a room with the door closed!

Basically she's an adorable little baby and I hope we get to have a lot of wonderful years together. I'll try to add a picture of her soon.

Dali sounds like a delightful kitty!  Looking forward to seeing photos of her cute little face.

Awwwe I can't wait to see photos!!!! AND see photos

My husband trained our cats as tiny kittens to ride his shoulders. They are growing up and getting heavier... Mew, the "oldest" (by 2-3 weeks from my girls. We got all three at the same time) jumps from places you never expect to "lay" on my husbands shoulder. The look of surprise on her face is hilarious. Lol

He is now getting bigger and WILL be bigger than the girls. I can't wait until he is full grown and goes flying onto my husband haha.

Thank you for the wishes everyone! She's doing really well.  She ran out of the front door one day(quite a scare!) but I think she just wanted to see what was out there, since she only went about 4 feet out before stopping.

@rachelinaz  That sounds adorable, and funny! I bet they are real bundles of joy.

Here is a picture of Dali relaxing in the sink.

I bet they become  friends soon enough. My daughter had 5 dogs and two cats and they all got a long pretty well. Now she only has two dogs and no cats. They all got old and passed. I miss them as she does because they were all great.
