Hi

Is the kitten acting normally otherwise? Is he eating normally, using the litterbox normally, AND playing normally?

if so your vet is probably right and it's okay to wait and see what happens.  If you got him from a shelter URI's are common and rather harmless, though he should be monitored closely because he is SO little and if he gets worse taken in.

However, if he is eating less, his litterbox habits have changed, or he is not playing as much, that is a problem and he has to be taken to the vet.

If he is eating or drinking less than normal, this is a bad thing.  If he is sleeping a lot, this might be normal but it depends how much he usually sleeps.

Honestly, given his age and the fact that he is eating and drinking less, I would probably just take him in for your peace of mind if nothing else.  It's not a great sign if his behavior is different regardless of his age, and he is only 6 weeks which makes him more vulnerable.

Sounds like he's got a little upper respiratory infection brewing.  It's very common when bringing home a new kitty for one to develop.  Good for you for noticing the change in him!

Since he hasn't eaten much today, probably because of the stuffy nose, I'd get him to the vet. You can steam him in the bathroom to help break up the congestion or run a vaporizer 24/7 near where he lays.
