Maybe only because my services can be bought with a diet Pepsi...
I'm on a programming committee at work (the library) ; I submit ideas for future library lectures, track down people who can give them, and write up outlines/proposals.  Among my 21 ideas was one for having a cheap wedding.  Guess who's giving that program?

Just when I thought I had gotten off the wedding carousel!  (It's only been 2 weeks since my friend's wedding.)  I'm not joking when I say that every day since May 18th, I've thought, "Thank God that's over!". I enjoyed doing all I did, but I am so glad to be done with weddings.  Someone, please make it stop....please?

I've only ever once given a lecture/speech, and that was ten years ago. I'm a bit nervous!

Just keep in mind that you know more about your subject than your audience does.  That helps.  Also create an outline, or PowerPoint presentation, if needed, and rehearse it a couple of time before your talk.

Remember, that probably most everyone there knows you and is a friend.

I am also a Librarian, but for two years was a software Trainer for CompUSA.  You can do it.

Wow, congratulations. There's no need to be nervous - just look at how well prepared you are

I like the idea of making buckets of KFC acceptable again.
LOL!  They're soundin' pretty good right about now! We should start a new fashion for them for weddings!

Angelina--thanks for the advice! Actually, it's for the general public, not staff, so nobody will know me, nor me them! That's making me a tad nervous...

I just got finished the intro and some of the other topics in the lecture.

An excerpt from Denice's "The Budget Bride": "A fast-food wedding reception can be a delicious alterative to a formal wedding reception meal.  At Burger King, guests can 'Have it their way' ; at McDonalds, a wide array of tasty tidbits await them on the Dollar Menu ; and at KFC, your guests will delight in the fact that they have a choice between 'skin on' or 'skin off'--and those biscuits and coleslaw rival the cuisine in New York's finest upscale eateries. And, with coupons, you can do it all on a budget!"

Good luck! Just a tip you might not need - a tiny piece of paper in your mouth will prevent nerve-induced dry mouth. If you have trouble making eye contact, gaze at people's eyebrows or an ear. It'll give the impression of eye contact.
