I think the boys are harder to find the right name for.   I ended up naming my son after his grandfathers.  My father's name is his first name and my ex's father's name is his middle name.

I definitely had a shorter list of boy names than girl!  In a sense; that made it easier.

I had to do DS's room in stages.   It's harder when you have another little one running around.  Technically I'm still waiting on my FIL to send me photos for the 8 empty frames hanging on DS's bedroom wall.  DS is 2.  I asked for close ups of things like acorns, leaves and mushrooms.  He's an avid hiker and I know he already has them; he just gets things done at his own pace.
Anyway; it helped to just break it down into chunks and not worry about the big picture as much; although I do remember feeling like I had to light a fire under DH (who never stops working on projects...it was 90% hormones
).  We didn't even buy his crib till he was here.  He was in a bassinet at first and DD was still in her crib till after 3!  With DD I was washing her clothing and blankets while in labor; so yeah...I wanted to be more ready.  Still didn't get my hospital bag packed on time.  Or DD's.

Do you know what colors or what theme you want to use in his room?  I loooove baby nurseries!

I can't help you with nurseries, but I can suggest names:   Michael, Mark, Jason, John, Phillip, Matthew, Ken, Kevin.

Those are my top choices in descending order.  They are classic names and will always be with us.  Those who impose a 'cutsie', or 'original created name' on a child is setting that child up for a lifetime of having to justify that name, and may end up in fights over it.

One person I knew a long time ago was and English teacher.  She dreamed of naming her male child, 'Emerson', after Ralph Waldo Emerson.  Her friend advised her to think about that, and consider how it might sound if she had to stand on her back porch and bellow:  EMERSON, EMERSON, COME HOME NOW!!!!!

The prospective mother chose another name.  I do not know what it was.

I love names that can be shortened, or the "nickname/alternate name" used instead. Such as, William becomes Billy, and Robert is Bobby.....but I guess most names can be shortened.  Jonathan becomes john, and alexander is alex.

I also like soap opera names for guys.
So don't know how well, that would be at school.

If your son, as he grows up prefers one name over the other,  you being his mom, will just have to know which one he is using at the time....lol.   Of course, he will have to listen to "whatever name mom prefers."

Another cute thing, which I just realized, is that Aimee, will end up calling her baby brother by her own names..
....that will be fun.     (I suppose the name should mesh well with Aimee's name, too....since when you tell people their names, it would be easier that way.)

This baby's middle name will be David after my dad. I don't want to add my father in laws name too because then his name would be Leo David or David Leo and I don't like either one. I did tell my husband we could have 2 middle names and be Leo and David but he said no.

I love the Fisher Price Luv U Zoo set but it's almost the same as the one we had for Aimee (but hers was pink) http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/prod...ce-crib-set-31150-311-crst-luvz/10248693.aspx There was a girl on our local buy and sell page selling a whole set for $50 (with the lamp and wall hangings) and I really wanted it. I was tempted to buy it because I was sure the baby is a boy but I think she sold it.

We want a name that's not common but not a crazy "out there" name. I don't want him to be in a class with a bunch of other kids with the same name.

I've already been teaching Aimee the word brother. It sounds more like brover right now but we've still got time to work on it. We do want it to go with Aimee's name, but not start with the same letter.

CONGRATS!!! How exciting!

Man I had such a hard time naming Aiden (and found out from my dad it was in the top 5 names 2 or 3 weeks later!! All the names I really loved, I had nephews with those names.

Girls names were so much easier. Helped the name was picked out since my oldest son was born. Well for my one daughter. But if I had three girls it would have been easy. My grandma named Lydia... back when I was pregnant with my oldest kiddo. But right before Gram died to name my girl Lydia. Crazy.

Names are so hard, thinking what they mean and how they might influence everyone - how your child is received in this world.  And so many meanings.  My head would burst:  I fing it hard enough to name my cats!

I agree with @Catnap  about how if sounds with Aimee's name, and also your last name, but yes, also having different initial is a good idea too.

Do you like names associated with different history, like American, or Celtic, or biblical, or just what they mean and how they sound?  @catlover19  you made me laugh when you said he will probably end up being called what his big sis' calls him anyway, because that is what stuck with all my neices and nephews.  Even the oldest one gets called what her little sister called her when she was learning to talk.  Fun given that the youngest is now 19 and the oldest 25!

I always wanted my kids to have normal names, normal spellings. My deal was how would it sound with Dr. in front of their name. Lol. And if they really did not like their name, one middle name had to work with Dr. in front of it.
Aiden has one Eskimo middle name. Trust me, Dr. isn't a good choice. Lol my oldest son is named after my Grandpa. One of his middle names is Delbert lol. Funny enough... he and his friends thought Delbert was cool. Haha. Go figure!!

I am weird... I know! My kids are Joseph, Aiden and Lydia. Pretty normal but nice. All have odd nicknames used by me or my side of the family. I guess to make up for normal names. Lol

Funny!  I can absolutely see DD still calling DS "Buddy" when they are adults!
My youngest step-sister hates her name and prefers to go by her nickname everywhere...work included; it's not a name at all!

Same for me!  My Mom's friend's daughter just gave her son a name I can't see following him well in a professional setting!  Not at all.  He'll be fine in show business or something like that.  That being said; his parents are the hipster type and the Mom is a professional photographer.  I have no idea what the dad does come to think of it.

Yup. I am an older parent, so I didn't know if it was my generation or ? Funny how my Gram knew I would have a girl. We didn't even know. I feel bad for Aiden's name. So common now days. I wanted Andrew or Alexander. Bummed me out they were used by mybson's cousins. He can go by A.C. or Christian which is his middle name. Eskimo name isn't going to fly. I like the name Aiden, but it's too popular now and it also starts with an A so we can't use that. Aimee was really easy to name. My husband suggested it and it just stuck.

Aimee's name is french, but I am not too worried about the history or anything. We just need to find a name we like and agree on.

I like slightly different spellings, but nothing crazy. Aimee is spelled the way it is because she's named after my husbands grandpa. His name was Aime, so we added the e to make it feminine. We just know that her name was meant to be Aimee after him because she was born on his birthday (but he passed away a few years before she was born). She was due November 15 and was born September 4 on his birthday. Of all days to be born...

We passed on Noah because it became so popular.  Also a couple at our church used that one.  I've always liked Emma and Sophia; but those became super popular too.  (And that same couple named their last Sophia. Also my MIL's new puppy...
)

I like Emma, my sister thought we were going to name our daughter Emma (instead of Aimee) when she found out we are having a daughter. I wouldn't tell her the name through text, I wanted to tell her in person and she was guessing what her name would be and had guessed Emma. I only didn't want to tell her because her middle name is after my sister and we wanted to see her reaction in person. My sister is Aimee's only aunt and she doesn't have any uncles.

Someone suggested naming the baby Oliver. I kind of like that, but I haven't mentioned it to my husband yet.

I like Oliver or Ollie but it is a pretty popular name recently I think.

If Emma sounded nice as a girl's name how about:

Eben which means stone of help.

Eoghan                 born of the yew

Eoin                      gracious and merciful

Euan                     youth                             (Eoghan, Eoin and Euan all pronounced like Ewan which can also be used)

Ethan                    long lived

Emmett was the first name that came in to my head when I read Emma but I couldn't find it on the name site I went on to check the meanings!

Oliver isn't that popular here. I looked it up and it's a popular name in the UK.

I want a name that people would be able to pronounce by looking at it. Emmett is a nice name but it would remind me of the movie Twilight too much.

Congrats Mrs B. A little boy is lovely. I was in Target today looking at the baby boy clothes. Oh they were so cute. Aimee is a lovely name so I'm sure you will come up with a great Boys name. Now we just have to wait to see how gorgeous he is.

My husband doesn't really like the idea of Oliver so that won't be his name.

I bought him the first item for his room today. It has a string on it to hang, I am going to hang it either above his crib or on his door. I decided I want to decorate the room with dogs. The store has blankets and stuff that match this too so I will probably go back and get them at some point.
